Re: Favorable article about Morrisseys presence in Oslo (norwegian newspaper)

To use this thread to gather all news about the event, there was a press conference with the artists today. James Blunt was asked if it was right for Morrissey to appear at the concert. He responded with something like "Of course it's right for him to play here. It's the week of Mandelas death and he talked about compassion and understanding. I don't know what [Morrissey] said, but we must forgive and move on."

Re: "Oh Morrissey, you're just like Mrs Thatcher" - Craig Browm, in the Daily Mail

I have to disagree with that. I get his point, but I think people tend to easily forget Morrissey, Lennon and others are artists.
The person you are and the artist you are can be very different.
Morrissey built his career and reputation on writing and singing the words for people's darkest times and feelings. That's why people love his songs.
He talks about what he knows, it doesn't mean that's how he feels deep inside.

I understand that because I was born in the North, I grew up on depressing, cold streets where poverty, depression, addictions, violence and anger were common.
I was middle-class and a bit spoiled and went to good schools and even went on holidays every Summer. We weren't rich but we weren't working class.
But I went to school with the working-class kids, I played with them on the streets and even though money wasn't our main issue, we had very similar worries and fears as...

The review is pretty fair. I know the rules are different for these types of tribute records but if it's not possible to go in the studio and record something, and what you've got doesn't meet your standards, don't release anything. This felt like someone wanted to capitalize on the publicity from the book and didn't really care what they out out.

An anonymous person writes:

EXIT by NZ author Shane Filer features a scene where the main characters stalk Morrissey at a concert in Indianapolis.

‘Exit’ is the story of Briar who spent a year trapped in her room, suffering from agoraphobia. Six years on, she’s free, yet ripples from the year’s isolation still lap at the edges of her life, especially when she meets a man who thinks he’s the reincarnation of Robin Hood - stealing from the rich to give to the poor, and he begins to draw her into his dark world. Ripples echo down through the years, leading her to the answer to one very simple question: is she losing her mind?
