Trey Anastasio

He's collaborated with Tim Jonze. Conor McNicholas will be doing the remix.

Can't believe the obvious answer wasn't on that poll: Alain Whyte.

Alain Whyte has continued to collaborate with Morrissey right up until the most recent album. Officially, he remains Morrissey's songwriter so it wouldn't really be news that they'd chosen to collaborate again (unlike if he'd rejoined the live band).

He collaborated actively up until Ringleader. Some of his older compositions were used for Refusal but he and Morrissey had fallen out well before then and he was not involved with that album at all. He hadn't been contributing any new songs, so if he were to return to the fold, that would be a re-collaboration - it's been at least 5 years since they actively worked together. And that's a far more likely collaboration than any of the other suggestions.

But I hope it's someone more interesting - like Stephen or Johnny. I'm certainly not holding my breath though.

oh ok, thanks for that. you obviously have access to information that isn't officially in the public domain!
I had no idea that Alain's YOR songs were written way back in 2006.
but yes, you're right - it would be the most likely although, having said that, we know Morrissey's on good terms with Street and, from what you say, there's been a proper falling out between him and Whyte.

Does anyone remember this? http://www.morrissey-solo.com/articles/07/04/20/1519250.shtml

The "LA sessions" were right around the time of the Jimmy Kimmel performance. I think these sessions resulted in My Dearest Love and Children in Pieces since Mikey is credited for playing piano/keyboards on them. However, I don't recall Alain credited for anything other than the songwriting for MDL so who knows...

This is true...I've been trying to tell people this for years but nobody seems to want to believe Morrissey would cut someone out like that though. Wouldn't be the first time.

Yeah, I was pretty sad when I heard the story. I can't provide any details but suffice to say, it wasn't a amicable break-up. Are they ever with Moz?

It's OK...I already know the details.

I think Mikey Farrell is the only amicable break-up...but really, contrary to the official story about him leaving to spend time with his family, it was because Morrissey wasn't paying him. But it was amicable in the sense that they both wanted nothing to do with each other. Lol.

Wow -- I had thought they had agreed to compose together and draw a line there. You know -- an adult arrangement for imperfect relationships. I hadn't realized it was a more permanent break & that the best of YOR was Whyte left-overs. I am now quite concerned for new material....

If there is no Whyte on the shelf (or an easing of tensions yielding new material), he would have to dig back for Street or Marr to bring the drama!!

Hasn't Mike Joyce sung similar tunes over the years in attempt to get back into Mozzer's favor?

Why does it have to be to get back into his favor? He could just be speaking honestly. I'm not saying you're wrong but I just think that's an unnecessary assumption.

Morrissey used to speak very highly of Joyce as well as of the rest of the guys. If not for the money thing I have a very hard time believing he would have ever made a disparaging remark about Joyce at all, in 23 years. He wanted Joyce and Rourke to continue with him, after all, and for awhile they did.

I think Joyce did genuinely enjoy his time in The Smiths and he has always spoken very bluntly about his respect and admiration for Morrissey and he has no reason to pretend otherwise. Morrissey is the one who likes to rewrite the past but I don't know who believes his bullshit at this point.

The money thing, I mean...whatever, that's between them. But honestly as time goes by, even though I don't agree with several aspects of Joyce's suit, I'd say the concept that Morrissey shoots from the hip where cash is concerned is definitely pretty sketchy. It's not like Joyce is the only one that has had problems over the years.

If Boz wrote all twelve new songs it could be good. I've never heard a bad Boz song. There have been some less than great ones but they're all at least pretty solid.

But I don't think Boz has that many bullets in the chamber.
