Alain...the truth is out there.....

FAO all those who still believe Alain is 'too ill' to play at the moment, but is still in the band, regardless of the fact that Jesse played guitar in the studio on the LMKY B-sides & continues to play on all Live dates.

I'm not obsessed with this, but when i posted yesterday wondering why the question of whether or not Alain is still in the band is clouded in so much mystery, some people said that the reason for the lack of clarification was simply a case of Alain's wishes being respected, which presumably meant that they believed Alain himself had instructed everyone to say nothing.

If anyone cares to peruse Boz's tour diary on his official site, they'll find an entry for September 23rd, which states " ...met up with Alain sunday evening for an hour, he looked very well & was itching to play."

So, Alain was "itching to play" over a month ago, but the Tour goes on without him........

An earlier entry for June 15th (all bracketed entries are mine) said "Alain's illness was very apparent (?)so we decided to get someone in to play temporarily(Lil Barrie) to give him the chance to recover, which, I'm happy to say, he is."

Ok, so on June 15th, Alain was on the road to recovery.

On September 23rd, he was "itching to play"....

So why all the obfuscation?

I'm merely intrigued.

I hate to debate on semantics, freeyourself, but "itching to play" does not necessarily mean he is fully able to, much like a sickbed patient would be itching to go outside but obviously can't. I think Boz implied desire rather than actuality. That he was "looking well" was probably said to allay fan fears and generally be encouraging.

RE: Jesse. They may have put him on some kind of retainer or short-term contract, given that they made the effort to name him in the fall tour press release. As you recall, it only announced the US dates so Alain could return in time for the South America dates. Or, if he's been ordered to not travel by physicians, perhaps he has to stay in the UK.

Either way, I think it comes down to what you want to believe and that it is a private matter that we'll probably never get a clear answer regarding. Jesse has a done a great substitute job, but I'm anxious to see Alain back on stage.

Yup, it's true, I have no actual proof of any skullduggery, or, indeed, any jiggery pokery, but nonetheless, the silence on this matter is deafening &, for some reason, REALLY irritating.

He hasn’t been fired from the band.

He hasn’t quit the band.

He’s not addicted to cocaine.

What’s going on:
He’s been unwell.

His condition is a private matter.

He is recovering like a champ.

He will be rejoining the band.

Reliable rumours I can’t confirm:

Alain was going to rejoin the tour for the current leg, but decided to take more time to recover.

The tour is not ending in America. More dates will be added, Alain will re-join for them.

Thanks but....

This was posted some time ago amid assertions that they were all just 'unsubstantiated rumours' (in other words, someone just made it all up), & is part of the reason I'm so confused & irritated by the whole thing.
