I love Morrisse; he is a brilliant, profound, prolific writer, but these brash, black and white statements really shake his credibility, and more importantly, they often come back to bite him in the ass. Yes, men are historically more violent because they have been raised that way, just as women are traditionally raised to be more gentle and accommodating. I think that it is less of an innate connection to sexuality and more of a societal influence. I am a middle-aged heterosexual female vegan and I desperately want to beat the shit out of almost everyone that I meet. This has less to do with gender and more to do with personality and horrible life experiences; possibly, the same is true for Morrissey. For some people, that one traumatic experience freezes you in time, stifles your emotional development, and changes you for the rest of your life. I think this might be the case for M, which is why I tend to forgive him for all of his slightly disconcerting behavior. I love and worship the man, but sometimes I just want to turn him over my knee and give him a good spanking; not that I think corporal punishment is a viable method of behavioral modification, no, I just think that Morrissey has a cute ass and I want to touch it!!
