Yeah, pretty sure.
Remember Adam outsold both Scott and Syd literally by millions. Like a Trojan Horse of bizarreness he smuggled some utterly strange sounding songs into the charts, and the bedrooms of a nation's teens.
Picking two of the most impenetrable, avant-garde tracks by Scott and Syd really doesn't prove much, and doesn't really counter the point I was making. I could equally say that 'Dirk Wears White Sox' matches The Fall for Post Punk taut rhythm angst, but then profer 'Molusc In Tyrol' as a contrarian counterpoint. It effectively proves nothing.
Adam made sparkling original music (completely out of sync with the synth heavy era they were released in), as did Scott, as did Syd(both of whom I'm a massive fan of, in case you thought I was being critical), and YES, I would always call his music weird AND wonderful
Those imperial phase albums 'Kings Of The Wild Frontier' and 'Prince Charming' contained some utterly bewitching songs; 'Scorpios', 'Feed Me To The Lions', 'Five Guns West', 'Dog Eat Dog' etc, but I've always felt the pantomimicry has jaded any critical appreciation of his music.
It's almost impossible to imagine his songs in the tiresome, bland charts of today, but he was a fabulous Pop Star who should have been appreciated a little more
