The Pastels

Re: The Pastels.

What album/EP would you recommend for a new listener?

A bit obvious but the compilation "Truckload Of Trouble" I'd say, they're not everyone's cup of tea so you'll be able to tell via this.
Cheers!

Thank you very much Charlie. :)

I adore Pastels, but really shame that they hardly play gigs these days.
I missed them in 2007 when they supported Jesus and Mary Chain at Jarvis' Meltdown festival. :(

Awful.

A celebration of mediocrity.

Dull, dull, dull.

The worst sort of "indie" people.

Horrible human beans too...like most of the Glasgow indie mafia.

Yuk.

You're the only one who keep saying Glasgow indie mafia.

Stephen and his friends are lovely people.
I really apprecicate their music.

Stephen 'Pastel' used to get on my bus every morning, going into Glasgow, back in the early '90s. No-one on the bus knew him from Adam. It was a minor thrill to have some kind of 'pop star', of sorts, sitting on your bus each morning. Thrills were hard to come by back on them mornings.
He used to work in John Smith's bookshop in Byres Road, in the excellent music department upstairs. I used to spend hours in that shop. Sadly, now gone, like most wee bookshops in Glasgow, and beyond. Replaced by....St*rbucks. :(
His music's way too twee for me, but he seems like a decent old cove. :)

Same era and same city

I just found out that 16th Gideon Coe on BBC 6 Music will feature archive session of Jesse Garon and the Desparados!!

I still regret not seeing their live in London 30th December 1988 because I was in Manchester.
