Statement from Morrissey on True To You

1 May 2011

April 30 statement from Morrissey - true-to-you.net

I'm sorry I made the Detergent O Leary radio interview so difficult but I was in a foul mood, having spent a full week surrounded by the royal dreading. England may very well be a Windsor dictatorship, but - PR Weddings aside, it is usually quite bearable.
If my Front Row (Radio 4) interview sounded chopped and cropped, that's because it was. I had spoken fluently about the royal dreading, but an Iranian censorship confiscated all of my views. It is distressing, but in all manner of British media in 2011 we are only allowed to hear the same old thoughts and feelings expressed over and over and over again.
During the week of the royal dreading, Poly Styrene died. Having made an enormous contribution to British art and sound – at a desperate time when so many of us needed her, Poly Styrene's death was all but ignored by the British television news media, who instead rained hours and hours of blubbering praise onto Kate Middleton – a woman about whom nothing is known on a personal level. The message is clear: What you achieve in life means nothing compared to what you are born into. Is this Syria??
To top off all the pageantry, 'Very best of Morrissey' (EMI/Major Minor) has yet to tunnel its way into what we older types refer to as Record Shops – six days after intended release. The gallant HMV has yet to stock it, and did not manage to stock the 'Glamorous glue' single until four days after its scheduled release. In fact, the CD of 'Glamorous glue' did not EVER make it to HMV. With 'Very best of' I face my first ever non-chart placing – which I shall bear with dignity, although I could never be unkind enough to express my views on EMI's failings. It was John Lennon who coined the phrase 'Every Mistake Imaginable'. I shall not repeat it here.
I am delighted that the June dates sold out so quickly. Beware, we are looking at four more: Copenhagen, Aarhus, Helsingborg and Stockholm.
The follow-up to 'Years of refusal' is ready and fluttering wildly against the bars. There is still no record label and the years shuffle like cards. My talents do not lie in DIY.
I shall be in Perth – older, but no wiser.
With thanks to True To You,

Morrissey.

I enjoyed the interview, but Morrissey really ought to drop all the "Detergent O'Leary", "Simon Cowshed" shtick. It's so cringeworthy.

Always good to know the opinions of the people who think "Morrissey doesn't like the wedding so he should ignore it/hide from it/turn the TV off". I'm glad they go out of their way to visit a website and feel they need to write about it.

Well done.

I agree. He would be much more effective in eviscerating people with the written word if only he would drop the name-calling.

The reason the Very best of is not at HMV is that they are "on hold" with EMI. EMI is sending them almost no new product at all because they are not paying their invoices on=time. It has nothing to do with Morrissey but with the fact that they are millions of pounds in debt to all the record labels and distributors.
HMV as a company is not "owned" or controlled by EMI .It is a separate business . Like Boots or Tesco.

WRONG - the people who insure emi against people defaulting on payment did for 2 weeks refuse to insure against hmv , it just happened that it ocured when the moz single/album was being released ! hmv do not owe millions to the labels and have and do pay their invoices on time. the demise of hmv is not true , indeed the cd market is quite bouyant !! emi are now covered for sending stock to hmv and the album should be in stock this week , though by the sound of it none of you were gonna buy it anyway !!

Why don’t you “fans” go and f*** yourselves. I loved the interview. And more importantly I am really excited Morrissey has a “new” record coming out, hopefully sooner than later. Any record company would have to be an idiot not to want to grab this precious man. Regarding the royal dreading, Morrissey is once again right. Why hasn’t the “media” investigated into Kate Muddleton’s private, personal past. Notice how there is no eating disorders, drug problems, personal problems, etc., etc., that we all know all have to endure (investigations, likewise) during such epic occasions and life altering “marriages” … i.e. dreadings, ad nauseam.
Do you “fans” not have a sense of humor. Dreadings is hysterical. And regarding Morrissey’s age, why is that a problem being that he looks like he’s still in his thirties? So why not act it.

And to top it all off, Kate Middletwat is not a vegetarian. This means, which means … that Morrissey, if you know him at all, which means she is beneath him. That being said and all, so true and rightfully so.

I miss you Morrissey and I Love You.

Always

CL

What a f***ing TIT you are f*** me shes beneath him because shes not a vege how f***in old are you 5 .f*** me ive read some shit on here but this beats the lot.

I don't see the problem...Morrissey was as polite as he could be to an interviewer who didn't even know he had done Meltdown!!! I don't think he was being difficult at all. Dermot complains that Morrissey didn't answer any questions at the end but that's because he didn't ask any. Dermot spent 20 minutes trying to be matey, as though he knew Morrissey personally, when it was clear that he didn't know much about him or his music. Then, finally something new; a few words about a record and a label.

No reason to apologise Morrissey. Dermot work harder.

I think a much better and shorter interview could be done with Matthew Stadlen on BBC 5 minute interviews.

So the interviewer didn't know that Morrissey did Meltdown. Big deal. Most if his fans don't know that he wrote to the Queen after the court case and a European court. It should be made madatory that nobody should be allowed to call him- or herself a fan unless at least a minimum amout of reading was done and at least 10 concerts attended. Knowing the songs just is not enough.

Moz has too much pride to release this album in anything but the traditional formats and on a traditional label. In other words, don't hold your breath people.

He makes me feel ashamed and embarassed to have been a fan nowadays.[/QUOTE said:
yeah, we're ashamed and embarrassed youre a fan as well.

This is a grown Man in his 50's moaning about the Royal Wedding...A Man worth millions who stays in the best hotels in Rome,Paris,L.A etc.... Grow up Moz,you wouldn't last 5 minutes in Syria...You could have always popped over there for the week??

how are his "millions" relevant?
does money make you immune to englands dreaming? or age!?
I take it you f*** off to syria on a regular basis? no thought not. sap.

The interview wasn't that bad, I thought it was funny and not at all what I was expecting. Obviously O'Leary has a compromised background with his work on 'the x factory' etc but at least he was irreverant when speaking to Moz, and in a friendly way at that. I thought it was funny and was a real interview even though Moz seems to regret it. Moz is well able to field those sort of questions and it is only an interview, so I don't think he needs to worry about how it came across. I wish O'Leary had asked more about the new album (is it recorded or is it all worked out but not actually recorded?) but I think he delved a little deeper into Moz than most sycophantic interviews do. I do think that Moz needs to block out royal weddings and gripes against judges, it is getting tedious even though I agree with him, but surely he must know he is shouting into a storm.

Dermot o'dreary is a sycophantic bore, it was always going to be a car crash.
why shouldn't moz, or anyone, have the right to reply direct to listeners after a interview has been hacked to death?! that's democracy in action isn't it? unlike.......................syria?

we're force fed those over privileged brats 24/7, I'm all for anyone with a voice taking a well deserved swipe at them. i'll reseve my street party for when thatcher finally dies!
viva the republic!!

Why didn't he state the obvious truth that Corrie is bad because it's too gay nowadays!

I’m sorry I made the Kate Middletwat aka Meatleton comment regarding “her” being beneath the Real Royalty Morrissey seem like she is beneath him which in fact she is, seem like it is based solely on the fact she is not vegetarian. In fact, there are many, many more reasons as you so accurately reminded me and pointed out that Kate Middletit is beneath him; i.e. Kate Murdleton is dull, etc. Meat is murder. I shall not repeat them here. To us older types, we’re used to buying our CDs in record shops. But an Iranian censorship confiscated all of my views.

Its very amusing when people call Moz all the most vile names in the universe YET they are on THIS site and listen to every show, read every interview etc.
Who really is the more pathetic a pop star who can only be who he is, for better or worse, or someone who spends life being cruel to someone they are seemingly obsessed with?
Some valid points made by some of the writers about HMV and yet another Greatest Hits though. But you know when he dies the record companies will be reissuing for years. Better he does it and make some money out of it now.

I hope he plays some more UK shows this year. It would have been nice if the greatest hits would have charted and then if he would have just went about releasing the music himself. The music industry as he knows it really is dead now- more or less. He though will not have to worry, he can make money just touring if he wants.

what an idiot, the rest of the royal family are not vegetarians so wether kate is one or not thats out of the equation her apparently being beneath the rest of the family, believe me morrissey is not targeting kate, the whole family in general, he does not like them at all. there fascists(and remember him quoting them 'benefit scroungers').

Morrissey does not like kate because of being apart of the royals and for the wedding all over the media ect. not because he sees her as beneath the rest of them, that is just patronising, william and kate are intitalled to marry who they want.

I never said that Morrissey “targeted” her. Actually he probably feels really bad for her. Isn’t that sad? You don’t want to say how the story really goes. I feel really bad for her. It’s such a joke. “Modern fairy tale” , I just laugh. It’s a sad day. Yes, because she is going to probably have to endure so much pain and sorrow, you know?
This world is so superficial. Wrap it up in the news of the world. Yes, I am sure that Morrissey hopes that the couple are coming along very nicely. And that will be it. Isn’t it wonderful. Oh yeah, you’re on a roll. You are telling me that Morrissey doesn’t like the Royal family? FYI, it doesn’t surprise me. If you really thought that I did not know his feelings on them being that I am the one forever. I’m just saying he wouldn’t even touch her or any of them for that matter. Morrissey knows that the Royal family is ferocious and let me tell you something, you got to be in it. You got to be there. Up close and personal. Because I think that there was a conspiracy plotted by the Royal family to murder Princess Diana. Let me set this straight. Morrissey even had a vision that Princess Diana was going to be dead in a car crash plotted by the Windsors. But the Queen likes Kate and realistically the whole lot of them despised, detested and loathed Princess Diana. It would be interesting to find out Morrissey’s visions for the future of Princess Kate Windsor.

Top of the evening to you.

God, he is embarrassing. It is amazing that Morrissey finds it necessary to release another "Best of" let alone it be necessary for stores to stock it or people to buy it. The latest release offers absolutely nothing to anyone. It's as if he thinks he could release a book filled with nothing but 200 pages of the word "Morrissey" typed in 10pt Times New Roman font and it should simply fly off the shelves- and if it doesn't, he should have reason to complain to the publisher and Blackwell's.

Moz, just get on with the new album and quit with constantly bemoaning your charmed life in the hopes of receiving empathy from those far less fortunate than you.
Why dont you just f*** off with your pathetic comments...
