just read in a magazine michael stipe is recently seen buuying chicken from grocery stores and eating sausages and gravy. interesting. vegetariansim was one of the tthings that defined him. i wonder why he stopped.
It is like being celibate. I think to an extent, it goes against nature. We are omniverous animals who have a drive to have sex and eat flesh. If being an herbavore were a natural state, than more humans would abstain. Just my opinion though.
About 5 years ago i read an article about REM in a magazine (cant remember which one now) but Stipe was talking about having Buffalo Steaks and other meats. The writer said something to the effect of; "if you think the REM tour bus is stocked with Soy and Fakin bacon your wrong" Stipe says "the meatier the better" thats not verbatim but you get the gist. i was suprised back then.
My comment is that he probabbly was the first to go on atkins which explains why he went from kinda normal looking to a wire frame with muscles draped on it.

he ate tuna from a can. This was some years ago when he started venturing from his vegan habits.
