60's? Girl Groups?

Anyone here fond of girl groups quite like I am? The Shangri Las are one of my favorite groups of all time, I think they were superior to every other girl group at the time, probably because Shadow Morton wrote most of their music (he's worked with the New York Dolls, The Crystals and some others)

my mom, played a lot of music like this when I was a kid and I still have it rolling around in my head :)
especially the:
Shirelles, Ronnetes, Shangri Las, Supremes & Marvelettes :guitar:
a newer band, like those in many ways is

The Pippetes
and lastly, I don't believe I would adore

Lykke Li  as much as I do, if her music was not so much informed by that 60s girl group style :blushing:

^^^^^ Robby just name checked The Marvelettes. Good call.

"The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game" by The Marvelettes

"My World Is Empty Without You" by The Supremes

-the song really begins at the 22 second mark.

-Beautiful song by Kirsty MacColl that has all the hallmarks of the songs of the '60's girl groups. Released in 1979.
