Re: What do you think of the new Morrissey single, "I'm throwing my arms around Paris
I quite like it, good choice for a first single, it might have some chart potential. My only complaint is that it seemed to lack a proper finish when I heard it during concerts (I haven't heard the studio...
What the *** made me think this thread was about "Late Night, Maudlin Street"?? Sorry - I really had a brain fart there (shouldn't post with a hangover..) . :o
Great photos - thanks for sharing. As far as I've understood Jennifer Ivory is still his PA (she used to work for Sanctuary, didn't she?), I've heard Moz mention her a lot in radio interviews which I find quite funny.
I'd like to have some of the stuff CG is on...:D.
Sad but true - have you heard Tori's rant about Moz at her Manchester gig 2 years ago? :D I don't think we'll ever get to hear a Moz or Smiths cover version from her.
So this girl really did a fine job!
I think I'd pick "Live At Earls Court" - it's a great recording and conveys the magic of a Morrissey live concert quite well. As for the Smiths, i'd chose a compilation - "Louder Than Bombs".
You could try Johnny Rogan's "Morrissey: The Albums", but it's not as good as "The Severed Alliance".
David Bret's books on Moz ("Landscapes Of The Mind", "Scandal And Passion") should be avoided like the plague. Same goes for Mark Simpson's "Saint Morrissey" IMO, although quite a number of...
I bought mine from amazon.de for 18.95 Euros (about 15 GBP). I've read about 100 pages so far and must say it's not as good as Johnny Rogan's books but miles better than Mark Simpson's and David Bret's outputs.
The Smiths:
- The Headmaster Ritual
- Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before
- How Soon Is Now
Moz:
- Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself
- Sweetie-Pie (;))
I guess "Speedway" still has to grow on me. It's too bulky and sturdy and just never caught me. Same old story.
However, his recent live renditions of "The Last Of The Famous Int'l Playboys" absolutely rocked. Never cared for the studio version.
