I'm a Japanese Morrissey Fan.
Many Japanese People can't understand Morrissey's English lylics.
Also Pearl Jam,REM,Greatful Dead are not popular specially in Japan.

The Japanese are a good judge of character.
I'll tell you one of the reasons Morrissey isn't popular in Japan is, he hasn't got many younger fans in Japan.
Sadly majority of under thirty Japanese people aren't interested in US / UK music.
They are happy with their own pop culture.
Many Japanese people can't understand Morrissey's English lyrics.
If someone isn't interested in his music, he / she won't make effort to understand his messages.
However, I'm aware of a member of this forum who hasn't made any post here (just reads articles, threads and archived materials) published a book in Japan earlier this year.
The person started a blog to promote Morrissey's music in Japan.

Perhaps I know the person.
I have joined Japanese Morrissey Fan's event that is hosted by the person.
In this year,three books about Morrissey are published in Japan.
But ,unfortunately
Morrissey dosen't permit that to translate his autobiography into Japanese language.
He is very lazy.
