Please, someone who owns "Very Best of the Smiths" please give their report on the sound quality. i know some people are going to say "reissue repackage" etc. etc. i get it, i've heard the song. BUT, let's face it, many of the smiths CD's are in embarrassing need of an update. i was listening to "Sheila Take a Bow" on Louder than Bombs recently, it's ridiculously quiet and timid. yes, morrissey and marr will hate me for saying this, but it's time to bring these classic recordings into the 21st century.

that being said, how does the supposed remastering on very best of the smiths sound??? i've heard my share of remastered CD's before, and often they simply blow away the original CD releases. some examples would be the fantastic elvis costello, joe jackson, led zeppelin, and clash remasters. no one in his right mind could possibly prefer the awful original CD releases by those artists when the remasters leap out of the stereo and slap you in the face.

SO, SOUND OFF!!! tell me how the remastered songs sound in comparison with the original CD's. reply here or to [email protected]

thanks
-ryan.

It sounds f***in great. If you are a big Elvis C. fan that's great because the same people remastered this as all those remasters

i totally agree for these cds i have to put my stereo up so loud to get half the sound... but what can you do?

Louder Than Bombs is rubbish, it is the quietest of all the Smiths albums and they re all fairly quiet on CD. They really should re master them all and bring them back out and they'd make a killing if they did it now.

Johnny Marr actually said he'd like to remaster the albums, but currently there are all sorts of obstacles.

Yeah, one big obstacle, Morrissey!

I don't remember if he said it was the WB label or the legal issues, or both.
