What did make you smile today?

And they all have great hair. What's the story with the Amish/Mennonite people though, are they for real or was it performance art? P.S. To me, the utility truck driver looks very much like Moz in about 10-15 years.

    Dream Thread

Sleep paralysis is very scary. It used to happen to me when I was a kid; I think it's to do with too much stress 'n anxiety. I had a pleasant dream last night that I was visiting Jimmy Page's spectacular London mansion.

    Spell your name in songs

"I decided on 'Kyoto Song' by The Cure for my k..." Good one, Mack. I was going to suggest the Memphis soul classic "Knock On Wood" but that's prehistoric I suppose (still a cracking song tho).

    Johnny Marr frink thread

Re: Johnny frink thread Johnny mentioned on Twitter awhile back that they're (Fender?) coming out with a copy of his Jaguar guitar as seen in that blue photo above. I axed him if it would come with the autumn leaves stickers from Walmart and was ignored for my pains.

The London riots - any thoughts/explanations etc?

Those girls sound like they are from a Catherine Tate sketch. Wonderful future generation we have to look forward to, eh?

The London riots - any thoughts/explanations etc?

Stay safe, Jackie & all the other Solo peeps affected by this thuggery. It's very worrying. It was so sad to see on the news this morning a London couple who looked like they were terrified to leave their homes. The man's eyes were darting around like he was prey. And the footage of the...

Crystal, what are the two last words of dialogue in Fargo? I saw Ryan's Daughter yesterday, starring Robert Mitchum and Sarah Miles. Beautifully shot in the west of Ireland by David Lean, a bit slow but worthwhile.

Frink on, young lady, no one shall judge you - hence, the name of the thread. I was just teasing.

The You Can Frink Whoever You Like Thread

[responding to KenzieW's post] LOL, why? Just randomly, or were you watching that film? I don't even know if he's still in the biz, can't recall seeing him in another film. Speaking of Young Sherlock Holmes, I'd rather dream about Sophie Ward, one of the best-looking humans ever, une rose...

Re: Johnny frink thread Too short :( The hair, I mean. That and the glum expression/lack of color - this could be captioned "Johnny Marr was sentenced to prison in 1947."

Andy, which one is supposed to look like Jude? My most recent film is Teorema, by Pier Paolo Pasolini, starring Terrence Stamp and Giada de Laurentis' grandma, who was absolutely gorgeous. Even prettier than Jude Law, I would go so far as to say... Silvana Mangano:

    Songs from Hell

Or Volare! [shudder] They seem to play that song an inordinant amount in France and Spain. Once I was walking in the French Quarter of New Orleans at night and every block or so could be heard a different bar band blasting out "Sweet Home Alabama."

What's Everyone Reading At The Moment?

This online music service I subscribe to has Alan Watts' "This Is It" but so far all I'm hearing is badly recorded chanting of gibberish and weird sounds. I checked his work on Amazon and it looks interesting. I shall check out "Become What You Are." [that was a Juliana Hatfield album title...

That was a very entertaining movie, just came across it on TCM a few weeks back. Gina Lollabrigida was pretty cool too. I saw "Tony Rome" this past weekend, a '67 film starring Frank Sinatra - with a swingin' theme song sung by daughter Nancy.

50 places to visit before you die

Venice is still well worth seeing. The tourists leave in the early afternoon. I've been to 12 places on that list. It's a bit general in some places - I smiled at "Florida, USA" - it's a big state, and there's a hell of a lot of difference between say Jacksonville and Miami. Why isn't...

    Ewan McGregor & Craig Ferguson

I love a sensitive man. Ewan cries over parting from his canine co-star, whom he describes as "a wonderful little man." http://sg.news.yahoo.com/ewan-reveals-canine-co-star-bond-030000885.html

Bowie! A-Hops! My cranky mood is starting to lift. I watched "The Night of the Iguana" last night. Highly entertaining and wise, with a stellar cast as they say: Richard Burton, Deborah Kerr, Ava Gardner.
