THURSDAY 2/3
Morrissey (LIVE MUSIC)

Few figures in rock history polarize the culture as intensely as Morrissey. Fans adore him. Detractors deplore him. Even people who revere the Smiths are split. But one fact remains incontrovertible: Floor seats for this show are going for $100 a pop. Suck on that. Though conventional thinking dictates that none of his solo work (with the grudging exceptions of most of Viva Hate, half of Vauxhall & I, and all of Your Arsenal) is worth a tinker's damn, his loyal legion knows the truth. Last time he was in town, he busted out jaw-drop renditions of "Shoplifters of the World Unite" and "Paint a Vulgar Picture," which bodes well for the presence of Smiths songs tonight. But even if he just plays all of Kill Uncle, the faithful will lie prostrate at the altar, grateful for the opportunity. Damn right.

SEAN NELSON

Paramount Theater, 911 Pine St, 726-0777, 9 pm, $32.50.

Don't know if anyone's aware of this, but...remeber Harvey Danger? The band that did Flagpole Sitta? From 1998? Interesting little tidbit here...spoke to their singer a bit after a show one time, and he cited The Smiths as a MAJOR influence (signed my ticket "The Smiths KICK ASS" Love, Sean of HD XO"). Anyway, he majored in journalism, and they band is from Seattle. The Stranger is a Seattle based website, and the singer for HD/writer of this little Moz article is Sean Nelson. Coincidence? I think not.

Yeah, ummm..Sean, I don't think people would really lie prostate at the alter. First of all, I've never seen an alter at a Morrissey concert. And also, Morrissey is just a guy with a lot of talent and some great songs and a great personality. He's not a God or a Saint as other articles have referenced him as. And I believe that all of his material since the Smiths has been enjoyable, including Maladjusted, Southpaw, Kill Uncle, the various singles, and pretty much everything else plus the ones you mentioned. His fans really aren't worshippers of Morrissey, but I can see how you'd get confused.

Yeah....and ummm Sean.... I'm going to need you to come in and work this Saturday kay? Around 9:00....Yeah....great...OK, see you then....kay?

Excuse me. If Morrissey were playing the
entire Kill Uncle Album live, I would follow him
all over the world if I could. That is his best
album in my opinion obviously. I am sick to death of Now My Heart Is Full, Speedway,Boy Racer, and Reader Meet Author. Wouldn't you rather hear Sing Your Life, The Loop, Disappointed
, and Ouija Board. Or would you rather hear Lost!
Unforunately Morrissey would rather us hear Lost
than any of the previous 4 songs I have mentioned. The only reason I have gone to see him 9 times on this tour so far is because I am
hoping he might play something from the Kill Uncle era. The Kill Uncle tour was the best tour. The fans were still really rowdy, but at
least they had respect for each other.
Morrissey and the band were very energetic back then. Morrissey actually would dance which he did quite well at the time. Now he doesn't do jack other than play with his microphone chord and whip a bannana around.

I am sick of hearing all these discussions about Morrissey and his fans. I suppose I am contributing to this by posting, but, it is really lame. I love his music. Get over yourselves and enjoy.

who ever posted the above comment under my nick-name of "mud", please find another (original) moniker for yourself. I don't want stuff like that attributed to me.
