Morrissey to Give Rare Interview and Performance at SXSW Music

In what could best be described as a once in a lifetime experience, Morrissey will be interviewed by Rolling Stone's David Fricke for a SXSW Interview on Thursday, March 16 at the South By Southwest Festival followed by a performance at Austin Music Hall presented by the BBC Radio.

This will be a rare chance to hear the icon discuss his work and his influences. Additionally, this will be one of the first performances in support of his forthcoming album Ringleader of the Tormentors which will be released on April 4th on Attack/Sanctuary.

Ringleader of the Tormentors was recorded in Rome by Tony Visconti (David Bowie/T Rex) and includes a contribution form legendary film soundtrack composer Ennio Morricone. Ringleader is Morrissey's first studio album since 2004's internationally acclaimed You Are the Quarry, which became the best selling album of his career and debuted on the Billboard charts at #11.

Scroll down and he is listed with a photo also. Is this a 1 gig warm up thing for the tour? Who knows but he's apparently playing. Cheers.

While checking out what bands would be playing the South by Southwest Festival, I came across Morrissey's name, as well as a picture. This event pre-dates all the other gigs in the UK as well as Ireland. The festival is in mid-March, and in Texas no less!

Red Lightning will also be playing this event as well as a ton of other great bands.

Just got back from Manchester v Cancer and WOW! The place went crazy for Johnny Marr who opened with There Is A Light and finished with How Soon Is Now?, with Andy on bass! He was genuinely really happy to be playing with Andy again and said that it had been 'too long'. So, Johnny and Andy have done it, all we need now is Moz on board!

I'm sure everyone will have been pleased to see the cameras filming the whole concert! DVD or TV release perhaps?

There is a mention of Morrissey in Sunday's PVP online comic. It is good for a laugh.

Nothing in the way of news, but it definitely gave me a little chuckle. Scott Kurtz draws a webcomic about gaming geeks working at a magazine about video games, and it's one of the last places I'd ever expect to see the Moz mentioned.

It's the strip for Sunday, January 29...

Tout of order - The Sunday Sun, icNewcastle

Heaven knows I'm miserable now . . . along with the hundreds of other Morrissey fans who failed to get a seat for his concert at the Sage in Gateshead in April.

But what makes me even sadder is that, no sooner had the fans who queued from early morning dispersed in a disappointed huff, tickets were being flogged on eBay at vastly inflated prices.

By midday on Friday, the day they went on sale, a pair of tickets on the online auction site were being touted for over £200. Their face value was £29.50 each.

Other blackmarket rip-offs are even bigger.

There's a shrine to Morrissey in the Allston apartment of Paul Driscoll, Michael Marotta and Ken Powers. It's 3 in the afternoon, and the chat over screwdrivers and Jameson is about local bands. These three make and break them.
