  • these entries of first-year art school portraits have got to stop. it's not news nor is it interesting (and i'm not even going to go into how crappy most of them are). next thing you know, people are going to be submitting photos of potato chips that have morrissey's dog's profile.

I'm almost sure you can do better than that.
  • Oscar Wilde, during a lecture to art students, once declared that there is no such thing as a "Golden Age" for art...that whatever era we are living in is golden, that art must be viewed and valued for arts sake. I tend to agree with that sentiment.

Or at least I did before I started visiting this site and witnessed some of the abominations that are posted here under the guise of "art"work.

This one in particular is completely without merit or redeeming quality. It is not only utterly repellant it is deeply ugly.

Oscar also said that there was no such thing as a "moral or immoral book" that books were either well written or not...the same must be applied to art, this is neither moral or immoral, good or bad...it's just not well done.

    Horrid.

what is it with Sharon E Smith? Has she run out of Valium already - this is even more frightening than her last offering - I swear this is some kind of perverted and extended practical joke, its more disturbing than the Morrissey aplique scatter cushions.

Will someonew PLEASE take the crayons away from Sharon and put her back into the straightjacket - visiting time is OVER.

Although it might be Ali Mcgraw.....

  • This is an amazing piece of art!!! People who criticize this are just jealous of the artists gift. You have to figure if Morrissey were female he would still be very masculine which explains the bushy eyebrows and nice sideburns on this beautiful painting. Take a careful look at the rest of the features of this painting and you can clearly see it is Morrissey. Very nice job Sharon-keep up the good work!!!

  • ....this is just awful. although i have deep respect for those who at the very least attempt to create, this shouldve never seen the light of day. it is obvious that someone was trying to do moz and messed up the eyes... "i know, lets just slap a bit of bush on the dome and call it female moz". to quote trashcan sinatras: "i love poetry... but i hate your poems"

  • Sharon E Smith is undoubtly a retard, and I am now worried about her. Why does she put these ridiculous infantile pencil drawings on the web for the world to mock. I blame David for allowing this shite to be put on the web.

This site is fast becoming the new Bedlam, where people like me come and laugh at the works of fuckwits like Sharon E Smith.

I wish to request that SES does a picture of Morrissey in lederhosen, with a Ducks head and body of goldfish.

Yes Sharon E Smith you are a fool and everyone really does hate you.

My real worry is not with the picture but with the state of the artist's mind! How do you get to create somehting like this? I mean, other than with your feet!

  • My Critique (Score:2, Funny)

The head appears like an apparition amidst a rich interplay of highlighted and shaded facets, thinly scumbled and thus atmospheric in mood. By orchestrating the details of the breasts in a deeply expressive, swirling texture, Smith creates an unprecedented visual impression of presence, absence, and movement all dissolved together into a single space-time diagram. With this in mind, it is worth noting parallels between analytical expressionism and revolutionary early twenty-first century scientific investigations into radio waves, quanta, x-rays, and relativity. The poetic utterances of high romantic flamboyance have brought us to the narrow pathways of fame and fortune and ultimately to a sense of place which echoes the universal in its introspective loneliness. It fulfils a sense of acknowledgement to the past, while articulating an honest pleasure in the texture, elasticity and character of the material. The gestural romantic expressionism which dilutes the tincture of abstract cohesiveness is a seminal crossover work in the development of Smith's painting and incorporates a mature sense of space and internal vision and accentuates the tonal conversation with its forceful colouration and interpreted circular cohesion with its precise division of space and a languid almost dismissive application of coloured pencil, which achieves an eloquence of gesture in the depiction of the breasts and is distinctly Mancunian.
The thematic structure is enriched with an interplay of large pencil strokes and unabashed expressiveness. This picture develops the continuous dialogue between emotive experience and gestural response and is in my opinion an important achievement for this artist. Thankyou.
