Visit to Manchester

Hi all!
We are planning a trip to Manchester for my 50th birthday! (we will be visiting from Florida, US)...been a Smiths/Morrissey fan since 1985.
We will be in the city around 5/21 to 5/26.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! i.e....events, where to stay, best music tour, how to stay out of prison, etc. etc.

You're here for his birthday, so there might be something on. A number of people, however, have certainly gone off him and his music, despite what the vocal supporters on here might have to say. You can do far worse than wandering down Kings Road and visiting the Iron Bridge, and going to the Lads Club in Ordsall etc.
