The OFFICIAL Manchester City F.C Thread

Before I respond fully may I just point out that I live in Wythenshawe. I work in Stockport and sometimes stay at my girfriend's flat in Offerton.
The rest of your shit will be sifted and commented on in due course.

p.s. the venom spat out above proves my point about United fans being unfriendly.

City fans have only just recently crawled out of the woodwork and I can remember when they struggled to hit the 30,000 mark, not that long ago.

Let's just clear this urban myth up (once again).
Yes, City in the mid 90's did ''struggle'' to hit the 30,000 mark in the Premier League.
The reason for that was the mighty Kippax Terrace had been knocked down and the all seated stand was being built. At the start of the season (94/95), the capacity of the three sided Maine Road was 22,000, rising to 32,000 at the end of the season when the stand was opened at the last game of the season. The two ''Gene Kelly'' temporary stands either side of the new Kippax made the capapcity 34,000 a season or two later.
But hey! Don't let the truth get in the way of another one of the stories you reds like to talk and chuckle about to each other, when constantly talking about City:rolleyes:

Robert, I think we should not bother letting them know the FACTS. Otherwise, they will have nothing left to post about:rolleyes: They thrive on the myths, the hearsays and the downright IGNORANT.

They still insist that Dennis Law's back heel didn't send united down:mock:

That's right....quote more facts except the ones asked for.....when City ''struggled'' to get 30,000:rolleyes:

Also, no mention (of course) that the team that won the League and Cup in 1908/09 was littered with City players (Billy Meredith et al) who were banned from playing for City (but not another team:confused:) after being caught taking back handers. A total of seven players (I think) went to the Swamp Dwellers and HEY PRESTO they started winning at last:tears:

If you're ugly wear a big hat. Great advice put into action above.

Here's a few more FACTS you don't hear rolling around Glazer Ville.

In the 1930's, united were know as ''The Rags'' as they were so hard up, they couldn't replace their shirts as often as liked and looked like they were playing in 'rags'.

Check this out...... a third team in Manchester was formed....... Manchester Central..... and WHICH other Manchester team was completely opposed to it, fearing they may overtake them and be more popular....... and could seriously affect their clubs survival?
Read it and weep boys.....:tears:

Manchester Central were a short lived professional football club based in Manchester.

The team was formed in 1928 by Manchester City FC Director, John Ayrton and the owner of Belle Vue, John Iles. Ayrton created Manchester Central because he felt East Manchester needed a League side[1]. City had moved out of the area in 1923 but had initially considered moving to Belle Vue[2]

The club played at the Belle Vue Athletics stadium, more commonly known as the Speedway Stadium. One of the coaches was Billy Meredith, the Welsh international and former Manchester City and Manchester United player. Their manager was James McMahon[3].

The club joined the Lancashire Combination in its first year finishing seventh in the twenty team competition. This led to an immediate application to join the Football League for the 1929-30 season; this bid failed.

The 1929-30 season, the club finished as runners up in the Combination and the reserves played in the Cheshire County League, the only other reserve teams in that league being from Football League clubs. After a successful season another application for League status was made and failed again.

The 1930-31 season was less successful finishing seventh in the Combination and the reserves bottom. A further application for League status failed with Chester gaining membership. This led to withdrawal from the Combination and focus solely on the Cheshire County League. After Wigan Borough had to resign from the Football League in October 1931, Central applied to take their place. This was initially accepted by the leaders of Division Three (North) but a formal complaint was made by Second Division Manchester United[4]. The belief was that a third Manchester side would seriously damage Manchester United who were struggling for support and finance at this time. The Football League backed Manchester United and Central were denied. Manchester United received significantly bad media coverage as a result and this act damaged their image and support further[5].

At the end of the season Central resigned from the Cheshire County League and became defunct, realising their ambitions would be unfulfilled.

If you think that the Lawman's back-heel sent us down then you are seriously misguided, my friend. If United would have won that match 36-0 we still would have been relegated. This is one of the reasons I don't like arguing about football with the Berties, because they haven't a clue about football. Just like their managers and back-room staff from the early 70's onward.

Who gives a flying f*** about my post appearing to be 'unfriendly'. I was merely stating facts. Something in your posts that you seem to omit. I can still be friendly to knowledgeable blues, as 25% of my family are blues, and most of them are able to grasp that United's record will never be beaten in my lifetime. Thank f*** for that. :D

Maine road because the Germans bombed OT. Actually siddy still hold the largest attendance. I think it was against Stoke or Arsenal. Can't be bothered to google it. This was in the days that my dad ( although a red ) and his mates went to watch United and siddy every week. Presumably because they couldn't afford the away games in those days.

OK, now rather than simply quote the Dennis Law bit of that post I made.....re-read the whole post again and then put the whole thing in to context.
Shall I explain it for you, if it is easier?
I was responding to a usual myth (City only got 20,000's in the mid 90's) by saying don't let the truth get in the way of a good giggle....and then threw in the Dennis Law sent the rags down in 1974 line....... why did I do that????
Because I was being ironic......... Wasn't the :mock: sign a clue?

I apologise you missed the irony and spent a few minutes you cannot claw back ranting away needlessly. Jeeezzzzz some rags are so touchy on the Dennis Law back heel...... if only Alex Stepney had been more touchy on the day:rofl:
