Strange Fascinations

Oh shit, I've posted in the wrong thread.....
I hope I won't be punished......

I am really into serial killers too! (imagine that as a conversation starter!)
Also I am fascinated with
-Sex, which goes along with my amateur porn interest (I must look like a superfreak, what with the serial killers and porn..)
-David Lynch (still not really helping my case any)
-Andy Warhol
-Magazines from the late 40's, 1950's and early 60's
-perfumery

...oh and I promise I am not a psychotic loon!

I've been always been fascinated by maps.
Even as a young girl, I'd go to travel agencies and ask for brochures with maps in them.
Then at home I would play "travel agency". :p
Even now, I still keep all the maps of all the places I've been to.

Multiple personalities, holocaust, ghosts, witchcraft (when I was a teenage goth girl). I must have an awfully dark mind.

Sex. I want to be a sex therapist.

It's not the act of sex I find fascinating, it's the psychology behind it.

oh so thats why you watch John waters movies:p

i forgot to mention cannibalism, especially serial killer cannibals.

ah i see, that why you watched that movie and posted it here!

Sounds like a good idea, I wished I've done that on my previous trips. But I relied on other people maps or knowledge. I have a 1950s map of london:)
kind of sounds cute that you played "travel agent":)

I don't know if its strange, i suppose it is:o:

but I don't catch a lot of them any more, but films that were banned in this country (uK) in the 1980s 'video nastie' crack down. Majority of them have been released again, with some cuts to the material. 99% of horror films are trash i find anyway, i generally hate stuff with jason or freddie in them. I did go to a film season at the ICA to watch "the house by the cemetry", "i spit on your grave", "zombie Holocaust" and "nightmares in a Damaged Brain" about 10 yrs ago, i thought that is enough....i don't need to see any more of these films. A couple still fascinate me, ( a number are still banned) but i think i lost interest when they become available again. The only horror films that (I still like and own ) are classics anyway, which were on that video list are the Evil Dead and Dawn of the Dead. I did follow on to watching Russ Meyer's movies, though most of them are pretty bad too. Quite pleased that i got to see 'Faster Pussy Cat Kill KIll Kill' on the big screen.

so films.....odd films, hold my fascination!

:o I'm so weird :(

- Anesthesia & Surgery ( it is a major part of my career so that could be the reason behind that) but I can't stop watching those 100 pound tumor shows... I just can't wrap my brain around how they let it grow for so long... I do get numerous tumor removal patients were the owner swears that they just noticed the 10 lb tumor growing out of their dogs head....

- Serial Killers - not the act of killing again trying to understand the why...

- Pictures of non-human primate hands - I can stare for hours at their hands...

- Early unsolved murder mystery

- add I am addicted to Ghost shows - Like Ghost Hunters

-Left handed men. I can't take my eyes off them when they write.
-Marlboro magazine ads. I have them on my walls. I'm sorry about the horses. But those ads are very appealing to me, the colours, the sounds. If you listen closely you'll hear the sounds and the music. Try.
-Roads, paths. I can't have enough of them. I would like to make a living out of photographing roads.
-Morrissey/Marr. I mean Morrissey/Marr!

I used to work in the billing department of a hospital, and every time I went down to the cafeteria on my break, I noticed the morgue which was across the way from the cafeteria (mystery meat anyone?) anyway, I've always been fascinated with morgues and funeral parlours. (too much "Special Victims Unit" and "Law & Order Criminal Intent" I think.) And of course, Dexter, which I am missing now because I don't get Showtime. :(

I have a book on Serial Killers but it doesn't explain WHY they do it, it just has facts on each serial killer, like Dahmer. Did you see that poor little girl with the tumor on her neck and they removed it but there's still more surgery for the poor little girl in store, like rebuilding her jaw and getting her teeth fixed. Poor girl. I think from watching, "Dexter" that some people have no conscience, and they kill (even though Dexter only kills bad people) without feeling. Also, when I had my hysterectomy, they didn't dope me up before going in to the surgery. So I walked into this cold room and saw the gleaming instruments, and finally the anesthesia guy made me go into dream land. But when I woke up, my surgeon said, "Here" and he was trying to get me to look at this steel pan. "This is your uterus, (much smaller than I thought, for giving me so much pain) and my remaining fallopian tube, and my cervix. And I kept thinking, "Why the f*** is he showing me this?" But it was kind of interesting, in a scientific way, thinking those organs were once inside of me. And to see what they actually looked like. I didn't get sick at all. This doc I had, I found he has a penchant for taking pics of his surgeries. Weird.

  • The Milgram Experiment/The Stanford Prison Experiment
  • Murderers (again)
  • Vagrants/Trainhopping/Hobos

I'm sure there's more but I can't think. Also, loads of people have said diseases and stuff....NO. Reading a Medical Dictionary or whatever would probably give me a panic attack. :o

Did you buy a book called 'How To Be a Angst Ridden Teenager' by any chance? Surely someone can't be this much of a stereotype in real life.

When I had my first c-section, I was pissed that my husband didn't take any pictures of my insides. It's not every day you get to see your insides. So the next time, I made him promise, and now I have a few pictures of piles of bloody stuff protruding out of me.

I have recently been treated to numerous chances to "see" inside my body via CT scans and PET scans, and I never get tired of looking at them. I have one, the first CT I had, on my computer here and I look at it occasionally. The spine is a beautiful thing, did you know that? I need to ask for copies of the more recent ones...

I am also fascinated, in a daydreamy way, with time travel.

Kate, it's very weird. I wish I hadn't been so out of it when he showed them to me, but the first thing I thought of when I saw my uterus was...turnip. It looks like a turnip ( at least mine did) I somehow thought the uterus would be huge, for all the pain it's caused me. It's so small though. No wonder pregnancies hurt like hell. I was born by C-section (I was three weeks premature) I have never seen my spine, but I bet it looks beautiful in a poetic sort of way.
