Songs To Parallel Your Life

Isn't it great when a song perfectly evokes the emotions and actions you're going through? I'm not talking about generic sad or happy songs, but songs with complex and conflicting emotions and specific references that make it seem like the song in question was written for you.

For instance, one song that I'm relating to lately is "This Must Be The Place I Waited Years To Leave" by the Pet Shop Boys. It's all about a dream Neil Tennant had in which he was back at his Catholic school taking exams and reliving the isolation of youth. I am a Catholic school boy (or was - I finished secondary school forever today), I finished my exams today and every reference in there I absolutely recognise and associate with. It's really quite magical.

Any song at the moment you're particularly relating to and why?

these "soundtrack to your life" moments happen to me all the time. prolly cos i'm listening to music 24/7.

but that psb song is fantastic (as is that whole album). that and "it couldn't happen here" are my 2 all-time fave songs by them.

Sea change - Beck
it made me cry so much i must have cried a day's worth of tears every week because of it.
it was written when beck broke up with his long time girlfriend which was what i was going through when i listened to it...so it was so powerful and is my favourite album of all...even over morrissey.

it was The Void by the Raincoats, that precisely described the emotions I was going through:
