Can anyone shed any light on the influence of the 60s British writer Shena Mackay on the early works of Morrissey. I know of the influence of say Sheila Delaney and Elizabeth Smart. Mackay was working also in the 60s and I think there are clear references to her early novellas published together "Dust Falls on Eugene Schlumberger" and "Toddler on the Run" - to me they have strong influence on the song "Every day is Like Sunday" - does anyone know any more?

Having a quick scan over the known resources that might help - zero found.
Google returns the same.
Similarly, nothing in the archive here.
It's more than possible he's aware of her work & influenced by it, but if she's an influence - it appears to be one he's kept quiet.

FWD.
