In listening to Michael's Bones this morning, I realized the beginning drum beat sounds exactly like the drumbeat during Morrissey's reading of Proust.

the beginning drum beat sounds exactly like the drumbeat during Morrissey's reading of Proust.

The Proust thing is a Howard Devoto/Luxuria song he's talking over called (I think) Mllle (??) from their first album. On the recorded version Howard Devoto does the Proust speech in the original French instead of Morrissey's English version, so Luxuria would have written the drum pattern.
