Morrissey interview + Polaroid photo in German Spiegel magazine

Morrissey's worldview "I'm for plain text"

"Morrissey praises the Brexit referendum, defends Kevin Spacey and calls Berlin a "rape capital" because of its open borders. seriously?"

Whether the Briton Steven Patrick Morrissey, 58, a musician just Morrissey calls, now Genius is or Schrat, self-actor or choleric poet, will probably never settle final. Certainly the man from Manchester, who became famous in the eighties as a singer of pop band The Smiths, is a great eccentric of pop. Whether concert or interview, he maintains the pose of the diva. The meeting took place on the occasion of his new album "Low in High School" in Los Angeles; It was arranged at very short notice and then postponed several times, domination gestures want to be maintained. After all, Morrissey is ready to talk. However, the photographer is referred by one of his managers rude of the room: "Get out of my hotel!" The Polaroid photo was taken by the interviewer.

An interview with Juliane Liebert

SPIEGEL: Mr Morrissey, in your new song "Spent the Day in Bed", you recommend that you no longer see any news. A serious proposal?

Morrissey: Yes. People should stop doing so for their own sanity. You have to stop. The news is just social engineering, and it's about control, not information. There are no more messages. Only control.

SPIEGEL: That sounds like Trump's fake news, but you just spoke out against Trump at a concert.

Morrissey: Trump has received so much attention, especially when compared to other candidates - Bernie Sanders, for example. Although the media said he will not win, every day, all the headlines: Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump! The American media helped Trump, yes, they first created it. Whether they criticize him or laugh at him, he does not care, he just wants to see his picture and his name. The American media have shot themselves in the leg. Since he was in power, he has exhausted the world. He grabs after everything like a little child. He is not a leader. He is a vermin. A huge vermin.

SPIEGEL: Do you think that he will be re-elected?

Of course I do... I am a Brexiteer!

Which is why I bang my head against the wall when I hear ignorant knowledge of Brexit from some people. The same applies to Nigel Farage and UKIP.

The interviewer wrote this at the end of Morrissey's words: "... the idea that Britain - one of the wealthiest countries in the world - should suddenly stop providing aid that is helping to save millions of children’s lives in some of the poorest countries in the world... ". This must be a joke or this man lives in Lewis Carroll's wonderland. Wherever that "aid" comes, be sure it is not saving millions of children's lives. I would say just the contrary. If that is used as a valid excuse for taking money out of the NHS, you are being bribed. Maybe you should look for that "aid" being used to fund the impressive war playground they have mounted in Malvinas since Tatcher's times. I'm sure that is one of the places where external "aid" money goes. There and some powerful people's pocket, of course.

I'm talking about the interview you shared here (https://www.newstatesman.com/culture/2013/01/morrissey-i-nearly-voted-ukip), not the German interview that originated this thread.

I'm for keeping emergency relief, but not for foreign aid as it currently stands. Giving money to fund girl pop bands etc NO, and desperately rushing to spend the required amount before the time runs out WTF. It's definitely being used to some degree, for political influence. I don't think the foreign aid budget can be justified any longer (as it currently stands).

At least they should change the name. Foreign "aid" is a joke of a name. Everybody knows it's an euphemism to name another activities which would need valid public explanations if they were correctly named.

That polaroid is quite interesting. Morrissey is clearly pissed-off. But I like that because he doesn't give an inch. He could've smiled but didn't. That says a lot.

Looks like he is being held captive... or waiting for something bloody awful to happen :D

I'm sure he would much rather be doing this (I would anyway)

I hope upon hope the 14yr old comments are a translation error...
Last time I checked, people under 16 can't legally consent to anything they may or may not be aware might happen in a bedroom. The whole principle of child protection came about for that exact reason - children are deemed, in law, unable to to be fully 'aware' of the ramifications of sexual contact with adults not to mention it's a crime. Nothing a child does brings about their abuse - the adult is ALWAYS legally responsible in these situations. It was Spacey's behaviour and choices that lead to his current circumstances. To attribute anything to potential CHILD victims is not good at all. That's only one step above "she was begging for it 'cause of how she was dressed."
Unfortunately, his view is a cognitive distortion and ultimately gives abusers permission to act now and mitigate later.
I really hope this genuinely isn't his view.
I'm sure we can all have varying views on race, religion et al, but I would hope one common view here would be that adults that see children as viable sexual targets are totally culpable and that no victim is responsible for their abuse.
Apologies - bit tipsy.
Regards,
FWD.

What exactly is Kevin Spacey responsible for? Carrying a 14 year old upstairs to his bed and then NOT actually doing anything sexual with him? I fail to see the point here...or maybe I'm just too old to empathize with the super liberal Twitter Court.

Interesting that he would do an in person interview, it's been years. Also, "if I can't tell a person I like HIM". Finally, letting is slip that he is into men. It is way,.way past his time to have a home and a partner.

breaking news ! don't ya know humasexuals like men too ?

I don't doubt the gist of the translation, but Spiegel should release the transcripts.
Particularly that last quote about German identity - yikes
