"My sincere thanks to Rick and the Blossoms for their recent recentness.
Anything that generates interest in
that tired old Smiths warhorse is testimony to the wallop it packed.
THANK YOU!"

Subsequent to the above (October 11, 2021):

RICK BLOSSOM AND THE ASTLEYS

I am certainly not a fan of Rick Astley (I only know one song by him the one that became a meme)...

BUT the covers were really good and they sounded very well.
He did a good work!

(The blossoms didn't sound quite fantastic, but simply OK as to make the one who became the star, Rick, do his job).

Yes some like his voice, he doesn’t do it for me in this context, and also as I said before, The Blossoms did fine as far as doing covers go.

It’s novel, but I don’t think Rick could make a career out of it, not that anyone believes he wants to.

I just have to jump in here. And say to morrisey. You owe me a reunion with Mar and Andy. As I always hoping to hear the smiths songs in all the concerts that I attended. Alll. Of them. I ask you to get together and sing for US, The fans. Now that you and the other members still around. Do it for me and The millions of the Smiths Fans. Iife is too short

Sorry, but Liam is already in the drivers seat.
Yeah, and he's fookin driving you to the cliff edge but he'll jump out, Bond stylee, before you go over and your young-old bones groan as they smash on the rocks below. You've monstered yerself, big time, on these Ricky and Blossoms threads...long may your mortification and mockery by the rest of The Morrissey Online Vomitarium Community continue!

I would anticipate he’s thinking about touring in the UK soon, and he might be considering Echobelly as support? I personally would welcome this: it’s 17 years since I’ve seen Morrissey tour with a good support band (Sack being the last credible opener I can remember).
100% agree. And....if I had a choice between attending a Rick Astley covers concert or Echobelly I would pick Echobelly. That's not dissing Rick Ghastly, it's just that Echobelly are bloody brilliant.

Mr Morrissey does not like me even if he is grateful. It is not right to show up charging expensive tickets being a well-known artist and make a tribute... it is a covert tribute, they should have donated part of the money to a noble cause .Morrissey did the politically right thing.I don't agree, but it doesn't matter. Mr Morrissey's answer I see in the photo seeing another group. It's a message

Morrissey needed to go balls deep on this and he has, so fair play to the man. It was presented as a chance to pay loving homage and that's exactly what unfolded last night. Rick Astley and Blossoms tore the roof offa da mofo Forum in London Town. The remixes of 'Bobby' & the A$AP collab point the way out of the doldrums impasse, a new course to steer towards Burning Down The House, setting fire to this largely sanctimonious, priggish poseur fan base and finding a fresh one . It's been pure unalloyed joy to watch the self-appointed curators of The Smiths and their complex legacy spontaneously combust on these threads. Morrissey could become a national 'Forgiveness Project' on fcUKin steroids if he plays his remaining cards right and just stops being an arse, accepts that the Britain First (For Britain?) clownery was a troll too far and sincerely apologise. Nobody is beyond redemption in Catholic theology, Steven...you can begin with an exclusively Black pre-gig playlist to get rid of the racists then RISE! Or you can writhe to the grave regretting the talents you've largely wasted by focusing on venomous bile like a spoilt child who wants the whole birthday cake. It's not as if you iz even that good, mt8. Surely you've looked out from the stage some nights and realised there's probably 'somebody' here who's literally light years more talented, an Interdimensional Intergalactic Elvis who simply refuses to tolerate the loss of privacy and freedom that even your basic-bitch C List also-ran 80s Fane Whoring briefly conferred? Only empty living ghoul zombies crave squalid 'fame'. Jeff Buckley. Nick Drake, it's not the career or the success yardsticks that'll matter when you're croaking, it's the music of the spheres you failed to inaugurate. (Coldplay...fcukin do one!!!!) The nod to Keaton is a start but let your inner Frank Hvam free. We'll all be a long time dead and you've still time to save your soul via Dad Rock'n' Rick-Rolling with the blows Fortuna bestows. Heaven knows you're a stand-up comic figure now, like it or no, so...go for it...

Best

your story writing skills are really sad. Sorry, but I’m giving you a big fat F for failure.

f*** sake BB....
I’ll have a fiver of what you’ve just had....😁

If there was an award on here for the greatest ranter you would win hands down my friend...

How’s the tour going...??
Must be on the last lap are we ???

Doll and the Kicks were good.

It’s novel, but I don’t think Rick could make a career out of it, not that anyone believes he wants to.

Probably he wanted to have fun.
I don't think he even wants to record an album of Smiths' covers.

Funny, we liked the opposite thing: I am not truly impressed by rhe Blossoms (not a disaster, but nothing remarkable).

I think Rick Astley has a good voice and a good singing techinque, so he did it very well (even if I would probably not enjoy ANY of his albums, though I only know ONE song by him).

But, honestly, it ended up being by far better than the covers of the Smiths by several bands with a very high reputation. I can't say "My God, how I wish I could have been there!!!!"....

But if they have played in my city, I would have gone and I would not have felt swindled by the gig. It looks fun.

(I remembered a very similar gig organized by a local movie festival, which was a celebration of the movie "24 hours party people" and they hired 3 local bands with some fame and for one night they became Joy Division, New Order and The Happy Mondays.... whilst the venue changed its name to "The Hacienda" for one night... it was fun).

No, of course he just wanted to have fun. And for him, it must be fulfilling in a way to finally sing some meaningful songs rather than the mainstream pop he did back in the day.

Agree.
.

I think Rick Astley has a good voice and a good singing techinque,

Yes, but you also like Blixa Bargeld. ;)

Think Rick should do a night of
Neubauten songs? I think Rick‘s
voice would work better there than Smiths songs. I was actually surprised by how low Rick’s voice is.

Of course, I’m sure it was fun for all those that went, there’s nothing wrong with that.

I can't really imagine Rick singing Neubauten songs.... but it would be pretty funny a homage to The Birthday Party!!!!!

Just try to imagine Rick singing "Dead Joe" or "King Ink".... I would like it actually.

Though the The Smiths are closer to
‘pop’ you can be sure a lot of people were surprised and couldn’t imagine
Rick singing Smiths songs. But that added to the novelty and interest in these shows.

I never liked Nirvana at all... nor I like Rick Astley, but this video made me laugh when I saw it:

I liked the way in which he has no problems in being a joke and it's OK for him to do something like that just for fun's sake. I think he is laughing at himself there and that's nice actually.

That’s hilarious! I think Rick is the type that was always laughing, especially when he was getting those big checks for the music that he was doing back in the 80’s. That’s actually a good pop song, as far as pop songs go. I mean, I wouldn’t run to turn it off.
