A pathetic review of a Dashboard Confessional show. Three paragaphs and a Mox reference.

Dashboard Confessional

Dashboard Confessional began as singer Chris Carrabba’s solo project, and although he’s now joined by three bandmates, it’s sometimes hard to remember he isn’t the only one on stage. Saturday night at the Harley-Davidson Roadhouse stage was no exception.

The group played to a large cheering crowd mostly in their teens and twenties, most of whom had trouble keeping their eyes off Carrabba. At one point, he picked up a carnation that had been thrown on stage and said, “I feel like Morrissey.” Well, he might not be the Pope of Mope, but Carrabba certainly took cues from him, earnestly singing song after angst-driven song, including fan favorites “Saints and Sailors” and “Screaming Infidelities.”

The band closed with a passionate version of “Vindicated” before returning for a two-song encore that turned into an audience sing-along when hit “Hands Down” was performed. Ten minutes after leaving the stage, Carrabba had fans running back as he returned for a second, and solo, encore. This time he really was the only one on stage, and it didn’t seem like anyone minded.
