*hoax* more UK dates

Why? Neither Leeds or London shows any sign of selling out. I can just about see a single date in Scotland, but otherwise what's the point?

You say a date in Scotland which I agree with but what about Wales & Northern Ireland? Plus perhaps 1 or 2 in Republic of Ireland...might not be until later in year after new album's been released.

As said previously. The current UK tickets are not selling well. Take a look at the seating plans for Leeds. Suddenly multiple rows of entirely unsold seats are showing for sale. Very large segments. People assumed that those not available for purchase were already sold. That’s simply not the case, only some are sold. General standing tickets, the most prized of all, still available for purchase.

If he does announce additional UK dates, it will be smaller venues. The UK has had its fill of Morrissey.

I have looked at Leeds seating plan and to say they're not selling well is misleading. Several sections have sold out, a few more have what is barely a handful of seats unsold which wouldn't take much to complete those sections plus as you say a few remaining sections looking like a push is needed to fill them out. I believe the upper sections were not made available for sale but apparently that's not uncommon for this venue, that said they were open when Moz played there on two previous occasions. Impossible to tell how many standing still available. Nothing wrong with smaller venues, in fact Morrissey's last gig in the UK was at The London Palladium and it was f...ing FANTASTIC!!!

As the previous poster commented, seats which were previously listed as unavailable two weeks ago have magically re-appeared as on sale again, so you can't really trust those maps as an accurate guide to how many have been sold to actual punters. Clearly the venue/promoter are only releasing chunks of tickets at a time, and have been holding back entire rows to sell at inflated price on resale sites, then changing their mind when the demand isn't there and putting them back on sale. It's a guess as to how many people have actually bought tickets, but the lack of sell out of the standing area and the complete black out of the upper section isn;t a good sign.

I fully agree with you on that, and wish he would book smaller venues in future. My worry is that if Leeds is only half-full, he'll just pull a sickie and not bother to turn up.

It's not at all misleading, in context. Only a few years ago, before his incediary comments, Morrissey would have sold out the London and Leeds venues in less than 10 minutes (5 minutes circa YATQ) . Weeks later lots of tickets are still available. A view of Leeds on Ticketmaster shows that hundreds of tickets (if not over a thousand) are still available including the all hallowed - standing.

Yip, sections 333 to 321 have been blocked from sale from the off. This suggest that the promoter knew full capacity was unlikely to be achieved. Not a great look.

look
The Leeds arena did not sell out in 2015 or 2018
No arena sold out in 2015, or 2018.

Leeds sold pretty solidly, even if not actually out. This current situation is nothing like that. We are being offered limited segments of the seating, and those who’ve kept a close eye on matters will notice that entire chunks of seating have magically appeared for sale. When that happens it’s the grey market of the “re-sale” market (they aren’t resold, it’s a con). That paints a pretty miserable picture of the state of the actual sales.

The fact that standing tickets are still available tells you everything. These are the plumb market for fans. If they don’t sell then his fans aren’t buying.

Face it.

Wonder what's going on with Leeds, there seems to have been loads of tickets released in the bottom left tiers that weren't available last week?

Promotors/ticket agency don't release the entire batch of available tickets on day 1 for a couple of reasons:

1) to drum up demand by making tickets look rarer than they actually are. They can also sometimes use this ploy to shift some of the crappier seats first.

2)holding on to seats to sell for 2 or 3 times the money on resale sites for supposedly 'sold out' shows. It's long been known that there are shady links between promotors and scalpers. If they are putting entire rows back on general sales, it means they don't think they can get over the odds for them by selling them via secondary markets.

Do you think they'll start dropping ticket prices soon?

Plymouth 2015 was half empty, that’s at a 4000 capacity venue, although Hull a few days later was a sell out. But both these venues are way smaller than Leeds. Did anyone expect it to sell out ?

To be announced soon.

they cannot and will not lower prices. Several thousand have been purchased and the only way they actually do this would be to part refund all the buyers who have already purchased theirs. It’s not gonna happen.
Sadly, both UK are not selling well.

I don't know about the UK, but this happened for Morrissey tickets in the US last year - near to the show, you could find them very discounted, 50% or more.
