Celebrity Big Brother

also: jade goody is the least offensive person, on that programme.

Can we all get back to the topic in hand and stop slagging one another off. Age, sex, race, colour, sexual deviation are all immaterial.
At this rate, some of you should be in the BB house!

AS for BB. Don't think it's racist what's going on at the moment. More like cultural ignorance, schoolgirl mentality and lack of respect for the feelings of others.
As for Ms Goody, where will all this leave her? BB made her, will it break her too? If she is evicted tonight, it's expected that she'll be taken to a police safe house. Boy, how they build you up and then knock you down.

the current controversy about jade et al. and the, supposed, racism being shown by some of the participants is really, really, really getting on my tits.

to those who are making such a show of their "outrage", i'd simply suggest that they get off their collective arse, turn off their television for a bit, go outdoors and f***ing do something to confront actual racism and racists, in the real world, instead of gossiping about some celebrity non-entities on a trivial t.v. programme and trying to dress it up as political activism.

f***ing dicks.

lol! feelin the anger!

I heard 10's of thousands had complained about it (mainly as a result of getting together on web forums etc) where are these BB web forums and who are these people!! madness.

I agree with HIM. saying that tho, Jade is fairly offensive and on the edge a tad. (but to take her perfume out of the shops is just crazy) I just read that Edwina Curry called Jade a slag, which about sums it all up in my opinion, shes just a common big mouthed little slag! lol! true tho!

Ok, now I'm really getting sick of this story (not here but in general)

First I thought it was kinda funny it appeared on our news (mind you, I'm not living near UK) .. then they started making daily reports on what's going on ... now they said that the major sponsor pulled out ... I mean, WHY SHOULD WE CARE? It's not like we know who the contestants are and we haven't got the slightest idea what's going on in the house and, above all, should we get all worked out because some company that we've never heard of pulled out? Why is this news here? I really don't understand the point they're trying to make. The whole thing is really beyond me.

This is another case of people being too oversensitive and blowing the situation out of all proportions, there hasn’t been any racism in the house; Jade, Danielle and Jo have said nothing of a racist nature. As people have said repeatedly it’s just pure ignorance spawned out of jealousy, nothing more. I don’t agree with what has taken place, as I strongly condemn bullying, but those who are crying racist need to learn what the word means, because calling someone stuck up and a fake is not racist, it’s jealousy. Not only do these idiots fail to understand what the term racist means, they have also given Big Brother more publicity to a wider audience.

Thankfully Shilpa isn’t stupid enough to complain about racism, at least she has acknowledged it has nothing to do with her race, kin or religion, it's comes down to the simple fact that Shilpa comes from a wealthy background and Jade, Danielle and Jo don't come from a wealthy background. It’s an utter disgrace that this nonsense has made its way into political discussion. When reality television makes its way onto political discussion, you’d have to acknowledge that the country is in a right mess.

As for Jade she is finished and it’s her own fault, she didn’t need to continuously insult and start trivial arguments with Shilpa, she kept on and kept on like a dog with a bone and has made enemies in the process. Jade's a prime example of what happens when you let fame and fortune get to your head, it ultimately ruins you in the end. I would like to point out that Jodie Marsh received the same treatment from Michael Barrymore last year and not one word was uttered and the bullying Jodie received was far worse than what Shilpa has had to endure.

I thought you were a boy?! or are you a girl? or a friendly boy? ;)

hhehehe

I'm friends to all men. Apart from that one who ran off without paying  me

[...]As for Jade she is finished and it’s her own fault [...]

i agree with much of what you say, but i really don't think that she's brought this situation on herself. i'd say it has more to do with the fact that she has (directly and indirectly) been described as a racist, both, by the mass media [did anyone see the front page of "the sun", today? (f***in' hypocritical c***s)] and by career-orientated politicians.

Late 30s??? Ahem. Have you done mathematics?

Fair play to the "lad" he is politically/ sociologically/ environmentally aware. So there. And I agree with some if not most of what he says.
But if you're telling me that certain statements that emanate from his/her/your mouth are not patronising then I, as is my democratic right (oh not that ol' chestnut) will disagree.

Instead of arguing the toss on a website devoted to some 80s pop star with people who are actually old enough to get served in pubs, he should be out and about doing whatever it is the "yoof" of today get up to.... Nicking cars (TDA) or smoking crack and mugging grannies

My excuse is the internet wasn't around in 1884 or whenever it was that I was born.

Sorry, I presumed you were in your thirties and chose late thirties instead of early thirties; either way it doesn't matter does it? I don’t agree with the usage of the word underclass, in fact I’d say it’s incredibly insulting to people who happen to live in mild or extreme forms of poverty, the word is typically used by upper class snobs who happen to think the world is their urinal and they can urinate on everyone else. That’s probably why elitist snobs such as Blair, Tebbit and Thatcher use the word quite often when speaking about people who struggle to stretch their money. He is however correct that there are people who have suffered from living in a capitalist society, there always will be and he is right in saying there needs to be a stronger sense of socialism in our society. It’s the responsibility of the Governments and those who happen to struggle to help them onto a level in which they can prosper from. That’s not patronising, it's common knowledge, and no person should be left without the bare necessities in life. I certainly wouldn’t spend my days on the Internet, but if it makes him happy then what’s wrong with that? More adults should help educate keen young people like him rather than come down on them and trip them up to gain some sense of victory. That’s my point, he comes across as a person with a lot of strong views, I don’t see anything wrong with this and most people don’t say or type anything worth reading, he does even if his views are different from my own
.

It’s a mixture between complaints, the media and politicians that have put an end to Jade Goody’s fame and fortune. Jade put herself into a situation where she knew her every word and movement would be recorded and released on television. Therefore she should of known that arguments in the house and vile behaviour is frowned upon by the British viewers, you just have to look at people in the past who have appeared on Big Brother and suffered the consequences when the programme finished. I have no sympathy for her, she isn’t as stupid as she comes across, if she was she wouldn’t be worth close to five million, but she has let typical jealousy rear it’s ugly head and it’s pretty much finished her.

I don't disagree with him. urrrghhh I think I'm in lurve actually:eek:

WHAT DO YOU CALL A MAN WITH A HOTEL ON HIS HEAD?

Norman Tebbit.

What's most interesting about this is the backlash against the furore. People so vehemently denying that racism is playing a part, the anti-PC brigade. Whilst I'd agree that this thing has been blown out of proportion, it does take something as silly as a reality TV show to make people talk about issues in stiff post-colonial Britain. It's just like Jack Straw's comments last year. Debate needs a catalyst.

All I know is, if someone calls an Indian person "Poppadom", it's quite clearly racist. Regardless of how the tension started - whether it was simple jealousy, class war, cultural ignorance - it undeniably has racist overtones now.

I'm not sure, I half agree with you dazzak. But would it be racist if someone called me haggis head? or would I just laugh...

i really doubt that this episode will stimulate debate or consciousness of racism far beyond the lifetime of the show. as far as i can see, it's merely idle gossip about "celebrities" and their doings, on a t.v. show, purporting to be political engagement. it seems that what's going on, here, is the demonisation of one "celebrity", of the kind which accompanies all these shows - it's integral to the "entertainment experience".

it's a shame that those who are actively demonising this person (within the public, the mass media and professional politics) have less to say about racist attitudes among the population, generally.
