An agency story has appeared on a couple of websites reporting Billy Bragg's apparent further comments on Morrissey's "endorsement of right-wing politics."

Billy Bragg wishes "there was a way back" for Morrissey after his endorsement of far-right politics
Billy Bragg wishes "there was a way back" for Morrissey.

The 62-year-old musician has publicly criticised the 60-year-old singer for his endorsement of far-right politics and he believes the former Smiths frontman has "burned too many bridges" for redemption.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Billy said: "I wish there was a way back for him. As a Smith's fan and as an anti-racist activist, I wish.
"I worry that he may have burned too many bridges, though."
Billy responded to Morrissey's comments in 2019, whereby he claimed "everyone ultimately prefers their own race" when addressing the allegations of racism he has been faced with.
The 'Full English Brexit'' singer hit back after hearing the comments as he was "heartbroken" for Smiths fans.
He said at the time: "I think he's decided that he wants to betray everything he ever said in the Smiths, and he's broken the hearts of a lot of people..."
And, although it hasn't stopped Billy from listening to the Smiths' music, he won't be tuning into Morrissey's solo catalogue anytime soon.
He added: "I'll listen to The Smiths, but I was never into [his solo stuff] anyway."

Do you mean like you: currently outraged because someone has a different opnion? I mean, you have to question the motivation?
I'm not even slightly outraged. I'm not worried for Moz or Bragg. They are adults and can look after themselves. I'm just making a comment against the homogenization of society where nobody is allowed an opinion. I'm not asking for Bragg to be silenced. He's free to say what he likes. I just don't happen to care too much about what he says, good bad or indifferent.

Is this the same Billy Bragg who lived in the 80% black area of Barking and moved to a gated mansion in 98% white populated Dorset whilst slamming anyone that wasn't "refugees welcome"?

Yeah. Thought so.

Also one might suggest that with almost double the amount of monthly listeners than Bragg (1.8m vs 930k [source = Spotify]), it's not Morrissey that there's no way back for.

Only someone who's last ditch attempt to prevent sliding into obscurity is to virtue signal and reference artists popular with todays 14 year olds, is the one for whom there is no way back.

"I don't want to change the world, I'm not looking for new England".

Quite.

The above response seems, on the face of it, reasonable. Except you cared enough to question Bragg's motivation. You can't have it both ways. I'm. not looking for homogenised responses but I am looking for responses that have context and evidence (if appropriate).

My comments are not directed at you specifically, I add them to this comment, but I grow tired of vacuous "he's also Cassandra", "He likes being exiled" "history will be kind" and " ..... we're too worried about being called racist.*" These are infantile, empty soundbytes that a 9th grader might conjer. It's like a broken PR machine.

Morrissey is a singer not a god (should you believe in such things). He is no better than many, many others. To state he loves to be exiled is to truly misunderstand him.

History has been kind to Morrissey regarding his music. On his opinions and beliefs not so much.

Bragg made comments likely because he was asked. I don't think he should be castigated for answering questions just because some in here do not like the response.

* The person who wrote this sought to include others in their opinion of themselves. An opinion that is particularly telling.

As ever it seems Morrissey can say whatever he likes, about any subject, and his words must not be questioned. It's absolute devotion from one faction of his support and contrary nonsense from the other.

Those that want to give the illusion that they know everything there is to know about Morrissey will, in about a week's time, be going to their first gigs. Aww! Bless.

as soon as silly billy gives up his 3 million pound mansion by the sea I will believe he is really a socialist. Complains about capitalism but doesn't mind profiting off of it.

...because socialist activists who work hard, gain monetary success, give back and think YOU deserve a bigger piece of the pie are the root of your misery?

"prince" Phillip must be delighted with all the talk of coronavirus, he said he would like to come back as a virus and kill off half the earths population. A diagnosed psychopath too.

No way back? No way back where, exactly?

I think the days of Morrissey giving a shit about what Billy Bragg thinks of him are long gone, if they ever existed.

Never existed. Although I can imagine North Sea Bubble being sang by Moz.
