I think there were a few good songs on "Wild Mood Swings," if you consider them outside of the context of "Seventeen Seconds," "Faith," and "Pornography." Then again, the good songs are fairly well balanced out between the awful songs on that album.

I thought, when I started reading the replies to this thread, that maybe I'd have something unique and witty to add, but I can't top those who named Katy Perry (who... and I'm really, REALLY sorry to admit I worked there... looks uncannily like my old manager from Hot Topic).
"Asleep" is definitely a great one to include, especially if the recipient of said mix is somewhat melodramatic... Someone who likes Syd Barrett Pink Floyd and Tom Waits will be unable to resist that song, I think.

"Bigmouth Strikes Again"...
I agree with Mozzette... Influence would be a great choice.
You could also turn that around and talk a bit about those writers and musicians that influenced the Smiths and the historical significance of those artists...
Just an idea.
"Have-a-Go Merchant," "Dear God, Please Help Me," "Asian Rut," the baffling cover of "Moon River" that goes on and on and on and on...
I feel a little bit guilty sometimes, but these songs just make me cringe.
