    Holding my hands up

For reasons I can't explain, I decided to listen to all Morrissey studio albums this evening....and by a short head from Your Arsenal....my favourite is....outta nowhere....YEARS OF REFUSAL! No surprise to lots of you, but a very welcome moment of clarity for me....

What are your favourite opening words from Smiths/Morrissey albums?

Taking all context into account - putting on Your Arsenal for the first time gets it for me. When Morrissey ruled the world right enough! Just too good...

Will the Manchester gigs be filmed ?

That would involve Moz and his people putting something together that the public would actually like to buy and own.......so probably not...

Royal Albert Hall show cancelled 11/05/09

Re: Royal Albert Hall show cancelled tonight Feel sorry for all you guys - I really do....I was very close to arranging to go to this particular gig as I've never seen him in London, and the reason for nearly coming was because some pals were toying with going to see him for the first time...

    Morrissey- a spent force chart-wise?

spinelessswine nailed it at #38...well said. ...and Kewpie's right, why should we bother really....we like him and that's all there is to it..... There's a lot on here who seem to demand that loads of people buy his records and take him to #1, but at the same time don't want him to become...

    This Charming Man - Butchered

Sorry - I just don't understand the point of it all. The Smiths were a band made up of a really tight rythym section, a young guitar genius and a totally unique frontman. Morrissey's current band would struggle to win a "Battle of the Bands" contest down your local boozer, so it's beyond me...

What is the first Morrissey/Smiths record you ever heard/owned?

I remember hearing/seeing This Charming Man on radio and Top of the Pops In the days of "record tokens" I bought the 12-inch of "Heaven Knows...." on a bit of a whim really. Viv Nicholson on the cover, Suffer Little Children and Still Ill (I think) on the flip side. I haven't got it any...

Years of Refusal is utterly brilliant

I think we can all count ourselves very lucky indeed that the great man is still making music for us - remember, he was finished at 40! Southpaw and Maladjusted together with "the court case" finished him as far as us of a certain age were concerned, and we contented ourselves with his legacy...

Morrissey & Marr ranked among 50 best British songwriters

Morrissey got one of the luckiest breaks in popular music history when Johnny Marr knocked on his Mum's door. If Johnny doesn't knock on that door, Moz doesn't make it on to ANY lists. Ever.

    The Wrong Boy

I'ts a few years since I read it, but I remember it as being fabulous. Might re-visit it if I can find it. Think I may have lent it tho....

"Viva Hate" released 20 years ago today

Just the coolest (and handsome-est) guy ever... Great kick-in, Alsatian Cousin his best ever solo first album track (Great idea for a poll !!), then Little Man dips, EILS and Bengali are superb, Angel gets in the way, Maudlin Street isn;t everyone's cup of tea, Suedehead could have been the...

    It's crunch time for Morrissey...

It's crunch time all right - one more turkey and he's history... He's teetering on the brink of becoming totally irrelevant, and there's just not enough sympathy out there in critic-land to allow him to keep getting away with releasing half-hearted drivel. While I'm at it - if he must do...
