    Morrissey A-Z: "Wedding Bell Blues"

True, but it's just nice to see Morrissey playing nice with other singers. :)

Morrissey A-Z: "We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful"

Yeah, based on the first 2 singles it seemed like we were getting Kill Uncle 2 instead of the tour de force that was Your Arsenal. Glamorous Glue would have been an amazing first single. Is it really a case of hindsight being 20/20 and these choices are that much harder in the moment?

    Morrissey A-Z: "Wedding Bell Blues"

Brilliant on every level... somehow an odd choice to cover yet it also makes perfect sense. Billy Joe Armstrong's backing vocals are an unexpected treat. It's impossible for me to hear this and not get cheery. An enjoyable new chapter on Moz's take on marriage. 9/10.

Morrissey A-Z: "We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful"

I completely agree that there were better choices for a lead single on YA. Back when unreleased songs were played live, it was a mainstay on the 2nd leg of the KU tour... maybe that influenced the decision? Around this time, I pretty much accepted anything Morrissey did as falling somewhere...

Morrissey A-Z: "Used To Be a Sweet Boy"

This is one of two songs that I never connected with on V&I. I don't know if I thought the placement was out of place and kind of killed the momentum, a bit underwhelming compared to the preceding songs ... not sure exactly. I do appreciate it more hearing it now... and truthfully it's...

Johnny Marr / Instagram: "Back in the same spot 38 years later. Camden Electric Ballroom. 21st May 1983."

I'm aware of the 2009 meeting, I'm guessing they also meet up in relation to court cases... I'm referring to not appearing together onstage even once. No guest appearances, nothing.

Johnny Marr / Instagram: "Back in the same spot 38 years later. Camden Electric Ballroom. 21st May 1983."

Yes, that's the tragedy of it. The split was so extreme and thus far permanent that they never once joined the other onstage even for a song. Had some of that happened over the years then perhaps the idea of some kind of Morrissey/Marr reunion might be fathomable. As it is now I just don't...

Johnny Marr / Instagram: "Back in the same spot 38 years later. Camden Electric Ballroom. 21st May 1983."

It's a good question. While Strangeways is very good, I don't think it's their best album and I think they could have bettered it. Due to all the tension and fatigue, I think after Strangeways they would have needed a 1-2 year break before doing another album. Although they probably would...

    Morrissey A-Z: "Trouble Loves Me"

It's a song that I thought was OK at the time but not much beyond that. It seems to have aged very well and I'm really enjoying it on a relisten. I think someone earlier mentioned that the song perhaps suffered by appearing on Maladjusted. I would agree. For me, Maladjusted was a patchy and...

Morrissey A-Z: "Treat Me Like a Human Being"

Admittedly I'm biased in that I have a fondness for anything Morrissey/Street. I'd not heard this one before. I feel like I can faintly hear the potential... but it's a ways off (with a few listens it's even grown a bit more). I really think had it been fully developed and reworked a bit...

    Morrissey A-Z: "Tony the Pony"

Always been a favorite and one I still revisit now and then. While maybe not the strongest musically, I like Morrissey's vocals and the condemnatory yet sympathetic tone he uses for poor misguided Tony. While originally a bonus track on some KU versions, I actually find it stronger than some...

    Morrissey A-Z: "Tomorrow"

Takes me right back to 1992... and it holds up well for me. Great song and one of his best videos. I really think Tomorrow and then Glamorous Glue should have been the first 2 singles from Your Arsenal. They would have been much better indicators of the quality of the album to come. 9/10.

Fiona Dodwell: "Morrissey, Astley And The Usual Suspects" via Music-News (September 16, 2021)

I'm guessing if there was anything and I mean anything at all record breaking about them it would have already been mentioned on Morrissey Central... BTW that's OK, they were good shows... it doesn't have to be "record breaking" to be valuable.

Chicago, IL - Riot Fest - Thursday Preview Party (Sep. 16, 2021) post-show

Looks like a really nice way to end the 2021 shows. Here's to hoping that the new record is released early next year and in addition to Cruel World, there will be a proper tour.

Chicago, IL - Riot Fest - Thursday Preview Party (Sep. 16, 2021) post-show

For those there... very curious how the crowd... did it seem like it was mostly fans, mostly not, etc.? Did he say much in between songs?

Chicago, IL - Riot Fest - Thursday Preview Party (Sep. 16, 2021) post-show

I think it's just his presence... there's been plenty of negativity from the moment he was added to the bill. I'm really more interested in how the crowd responds than the Twitterverse.

Chicago, IL - Riot Fest - Thursday Preview Party (Sep. 16, 2021) post-show

For me, a lot of it came down to setlist choices. The playing to death of songs like Paris, Munich, Ganglord, and the exclusion of much stronger material from throughout his career. 2017 was definitely one of the worst shows I attended (way too much LIHS), but 2018 & 2019 were much better/fun...

    Poll Riot Fest Setlist Predictions?

He's sometimes started the show by singing a few lines of a song acapella... would be great if he did that with Never Gonna Give You Up.... then the audience would think they were just "Rickrolled."

Morrissey A-Z: "There's a Place in Hell for Me and My Friends"

Agree with @This Charming Bowie - I love both versions of this song equally. The KU version was a fitting and moving end to the album... but I was blown away by the live version and the lyrical change @notawoman mentioned. Happy to have both versions. 7/10.

    Poll Riot Fest Setlist Predictions?

I think it would be a good opportunity for Morrissey to play more hits... but I'm guessing it won't vary much from the Vegas shows. What do you think?
