Briefly: Lloyd Banks, Syreeta Wright, The Doors, Morrissey - LiveDaily

...Morrissey's sold-out July 17 performance at House of Blues in Chicago will likely be his only US show this summer, according to his publicist. The ex-Smiths singer had been scheduled to appear on this summer's canceled Lollapalooza tour.

Footage from Morrissey's set at the Move Festival this Sunday is to be shown on ITV1 next Friday (16th of July).

The programme is on from 1:05a.m. till 2:05a.m. so it's likely only a few songs from his set will be shown. Let's hope it's a better selection than the BBC's Glastonbury clips.

John, England writes:

The unthinkable has happened. A Morrissey song has been A-listed on the UK's most listened-to station (Radio 2)!
It was single of the week a few weeks back, then made it to the B list and has now been added to the A list.

The single also gets the following review on the HMV website:

Probably the best song on Morrissey’s mighty comeback record, ‘First Of The Gang To Die’ is a majestic slice of indie-pop that recalls much of his earlier, highly regarded, solo work. Detailing the life (and death) of anti-hero Hector and his role in Mexican youth culture, this is a sophisticated track featuring an insistent tune and provocative lyric that proves that the mighty Moz is back to his magnificent best. Genius.

A live recording of Let me kiss you from Quart festival was sent on Norwegian television NRK on Tuesday.

Here's how you can watch it:
Go to this link and select "Nett-TV" in the menu on the left.

Select "Ny bruker" (New user) in the new window that opens. Register your information (Fornavn = First name, Etternavn = Surname, Brukernavn = username, Passord = password, Gjenta passord = repeat password, E-post = E-mail. The rest is optional.). Tick the box "Ja, jeg aksepterer NRKs vilkår" (I accept the terms and conditions). The other two boxes are for receiving information from NRK. Then press "Fortsett" (Continue).

You will receive an e-mail with a 6-digit code. Add this code in the field "Registreringskode" and press OK.

Now select "Quart-festivalen" and then "Lydverket 6. juli".

Sometime during this process there might be some testing of your internet speed. Just choose "Lagre" (Save) when it's finished.

The part about Morrissey starts at 05:35. Enjoy!

The interview from Lydverket Smiths-special from December 2002 is also available under "Band" in the menu.

You are the Quarry climbed back up to 12 (21 last week) on the Norwegian album chart in it's 7th week. His apperance on the nordic festivals Roskilde and Quart might be the reason, although it stays at 85 in the Danish album chart. In the Swedish chart it climbs from 13 to 11.

Norwegian top 40
Danish top 100
Swedish top 60

I was flicking through the Sky (UK) channels and came across a two hr programme devoted to The Smiths and Morrissey videos. Unfortunately I found it half way through, but the good news is that it is repeated this Sunday 12 July at 6pm. For that I'll forgive them the error on Morrissey's name on "We Hate It When our Friends Become Successful" It will be found on VH2, which is channel 446 if my memory serves me well.

Right now on VH2 there is a complete video retrospective going on from The Smiths up to present day Morrissey, apparently. I'm taping it to watch later on. I am sure I am not alone in being excited by the prospect of seeing some stuff I haven't yet. Already I saw a bit of the video for "Boy With The Thorn In His Side" which is certainly new to me!

Sorry to post it late, but I thought people might like to discuss it afterwards on here.

With Morrissey playing in town again on Sunday 11th July, The Salford Lads club is open on both the Saturday and Sunday from 11am - 4pm.

Fans can enter the newly opened Smiths Room and leave messages, pictures and memorabilia for others to see too.

Last time both Andy Rourke and Linder Sterling were at the Club. Cant make any promises this time.... but who knows!

The MozBus will be stopping at the Club too.
