"You are the quarry" has moved back into the Top 20 of the British Album Charts. It climbed from Number 23 into Number 18 (i bought it on vinyl this week, is it that easy, i'll buy 18 next week)

Although "First of the gang" is on its expected slide, dropping to Number 12 on the British Single Charts from last weeks Number 6.

This week, 26.07.04, Morrissey scores a joint number one hold on the UK Indie charts with FOTGTD remaining at No1 on the singles chart while YATQ jumps from No.4 to top the album charts. Not quite The Streets but worth a mention...

  • Well, that's good news aboot YATQ, and that drop of six places for FOTGTD isn't so bad either - I think IBEH dropped from 3 to 18 during its second week, so at least this one isn't plummeting quite so much.

  • second issue with that store. i called the torrance branch when the domestic single of "first of the..." came out and they said it couldn't be sold til the following week, which was wrong. finally got put out eventually. now the import version with the video is still sitting in the back at buena park tower records as of yesterday. sales could be higher for this single if it would actually make it to the shelves!

  • those of you who aren't obsessive chart-watchers may think FOTG's slip to 12 is disappointing. but it's an amazing success relative to most Moz singles. they normally fall about 20 places in the second week and that's when they start off around the 15-25 mark!
really to think he nearly had two weeks in the top 10 (and on pretty limited airplay) is quite incredible.
