- Boz said - Morrissey wants to play European dates in October/November time and they will be touring for most of 2004.
- Boz and Deano said the best gig they played so far was in Denmark. - Alain was suffering exhaustion and needed a break and the lads are keen to see him back in the band in October.
- Deano still had the mohawk haircut and was trawling the hotel to find clippers to shave it off.
- They were all top guys - keen to chat and have a laugh.

Dreams can come true. I was sat in The Lowry hotel Manchester at midnight when my girlfriend calmly announced: "Your mate is stood over there."

"My mate? who?" I said
"Morrissey!"

I immediately dropped my beer and ran over just as the great man was about to get into a lift/elevator. Face to face with greatness! I'd waited a lifetime for this moment.

"Moz!" I screamed.
"I'm Dickie - We go to loads of your gigs with our flag which says There is a Light That Never Goes Out"
Moz: "Oh yes I've seen that a few times. You are one of the Bootle Bruise Boys?"
Me: "yes I am - can I have a quick photo"
Moz: "Of course"
Me: "The album is absolutely sensational - we love it."
Moz: "Oh well, it's not THAT good Dickie"
Me: "I love 'Let Me Kiss You' it's the greatest ever"
Moz: "Oh it's not THAT good."
ME: "We are really looking forward to Sunday's Move gig - we can't wait!
Moz: "It might not be THAT good Dickie"!

and er that's it really! one of the best moments of my life!

  • Good to see someone put together an anecdote *and* pictures to prove it (it's rarer on here than one might think).

    Moz looking very suave...very "hotel lobby". Deano is a handsome lad. Dickie, you don't look half as excited as your recollection of it, but I'm sure you were...

  • I took a picture of Dickie and company while at the Royal Albert Hall gig in Sept 2002. He was quite sozzled but pleasant; and obliged by posing with his flag for me.

  • Wow glad my meeting Moz story made it onto the hallowed pages of Moz-solo!
    In reply to some of the questions -
    * yes we carry the red liverpool fc flag with "there is a light that never goes out" on it
    * morrissey was tall and looked in amazing shape - like he'd spent some time in the gym on this tour!
    Er other than that it's nice to hear from so many people who have met us at Moz gigs over the years.
