German Novel Celebrates The Work Of Morrissey

There‘s a novel released in Germany this week called Aquariumtrinker, telling the story of a long-time singer and musician who starts a personal vendetta in an exclusive residential Hamburg suburb.
It is the debut of Hamburg-based writer Mischa Kopmann who seems to have inhaled the work and spirit of Morrissey.
Not only is the book littered with references to songs by both Morrissey and The Smiths („Panic!“, „Sweet And Tender Hooligan“, „Cemetery Gates“, „Paint A Vulgar Picture“, „I‘m Not Sorry“, „Something Is Squeezing My Skull“, „Earth Is The Loneliest Planet“ among the more easily detected), two of the novels‘ chapter headings derive more or less directly from Morrissey‘s work:
While one chapter is called „List of the Lost“ (straight from the Morrissey-novel), another one is named (a little more subtly) „Ochsenzoll, hier kommen wir!“, alluding simultaneously to an infamous Hamburg mental institution and the last Smiths-album Strangeways, Here We Come.
Another reference can be found in the official trailer acompanying the book, juxtaposing shots of both Morrissey and the author posing with a cat. You can watch it here:
