It must have been a Smiths cover band then as the voice sounded so very close to Morrissey's. I listened to it only twice and though it wold be an easy find to listen to again. It was not a live performance either, the youtube video was just a screen shot of a picture of the Smiths. They never did a cover of that song I'm afraid. Neither Morrissey as a solo artist. Although it's a great guitar riff

Probably a parody video as the one you linked too.
Yes probably. I found it by listening to Smith songs and the link popped up as you might want to watch this also. Can't find it again so it must not be by the real Smith's. It was still a great cover.
Aww. Welcome to the forum anyway! It's not always such a bad place
I wasn't crazy.... see... It sounds like Morrissey to me. I can't imagine a Smith/Moz cover band doing a cover of another cover song.
It just sounds like a whiny man to me haha
Yeah apparently I was so excited I didn't read the credits...it is in fact a parody as you predicted first hand, so no it is not Morrissey and Marr but the first line or two sound decent but after that I listened to it all and it's a gag. What a shame they could have really did an awesome cover of that song if they had wanted it.
That guitar is NOT Marr, I don't think they even have a full complement of fingers. Anyone who got past 30 seconds and thought "that could be Morrissey" is in the wrong building.
I went past the first two lines and noticed it wasn't Morrissey. When I listened to it the first time I found it I also didn't get past the first two lines because my friend wanted to hear something else so this was my first time listening to it all...it was a complete let down lame gag parody at that.
Because it would have been anything else had they actually recorded it?
Of course it would have been anything but lame if it wasn't a parody. Doesn't that go without questioning?
To me it doesn't matter how serious they took the song because if they took it serious enough to record it and possibly have it leaked out then I think it's worth a listen as I find Morrissey's satire in re-doing other more popular 80's music covers from his Smith days would be highly interesting to me. I don't worship at the alter of Morrissey but I do quite enjoy him. I just found out the song 'Sunny' is about Lou Reed. At least if my information was correct.
Cyndi Lauper has a song called "Money Changes Everything" which The Smiths also did not cover, but maybe that's what gave these whiny men the idea for their parody. "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" is also not about Lou Reed.
