The CD Singles Box Sets

OK, so I had held out on getting these box sets because it seemed rather
extravagent given I already have all the CD singles. But, after
being stumped about what to get people for Xmas, I charged away
and got myself a gift instead. I can't say it is worth a hundred
dollars, but I suppose it makes me feel safer knowing I now
have mulitple copies of the ones which contain rarer tracks,
such as the "Certain People I Know" single.

But I was surprised to find something in box 2 -
'91-'95 - which is new to me. The "Hold on to Your Friends"
single has been updated, and it now includes the non-extended
version of "Moon River." A little late to get radio airtime,
but hey. I guess that's not a big deal,
but it's *something*. And it makes up for my not being
able to brag anymore about having the rare "Certain People I Know"
single. Also, apparently because box 2
contains one less single than box 1 and they needed something
to fill the space, they made the cardboard for the "Hold on to your
Friends" single a fold-open and added a new picture of Morrissey,
shirtless, looking at himself in a mirror, with something
written above his nipple. Not sure what it says. "Homey?"
I'll have to look closer tomorrow.

I like the packaging. Fits more compactly on my rack than the
others (which I can now put away) did.

The "Hold Onto Your Friends" is a mini replica for the ltd. edition vinyl version (can't rememeber if it was 12" or 7"), but it was a gatefold with that rather homoerotic pictiure of Moz. The edit of Moonriver was from the 7", and it's never been done on CD before. Not essentail by any means, but as you said, a nice package.

> "Homey?"

Honey.

you are incorrect. a short version of 'moonriver' is on the 'hold onto your friends' promo CD(CDRDJ6383).
