Morrissey Central "Social Media" (March 25, 2021)

It's a shame. Giving Morrissey late night, post-vodka access to Twitter might just turn out to be the most hugely entertaining thing ever.

Is Vegan Cro Spirit and Rifke still posting on here? Not heard much from them lately or from Rifke.

Reality: the partial BMG-associated Twitter Account is something he no longer has access to / influence over. That said, it has posted and retweeted things that have zero to do with BMG more recently which indicates different people have access now (Deckstar?).
Also: probably read the posts here about the fake junk being sold and dubious history of the "official" Instagram. Then making an announcement so he and 'inner circle' types don't look daft following it (also fits the pattern of 'discussed here and then a Central post a few days later' (eg condolence-style posts)).
The Central post appeared 8 minutes after a SER tweet about the Bingolotto YT video - no guesses who is responsible for it really.
As I've bored on about before, there was never an Instagram account for Morrissey, but Twitter and the history around that has strong evidence for being 'at one point' an official portal for advertising et al. The excitement around the initial tweets being attributed to Morrissey was something unusually positive and created a buzz - which within a couple of days was disassociated, so not really new behaviour is it?
It could be 'manoeuvring' for something or (more likely) a random SER post - who knows!?
Regards,
FWD.

Ah, well, you see. Mr Shandy and I gave our social media the old heave-oh last year when we discovered our Grndr accounts had been 'hacked' by some horrid oik from Altrincham. ANYWAY - is it really almost a year since Leeds? Mr Shandy and I were upgraded . . . UPGRADED, I TELL YOU! . . . to seats so far to the side of the stage we were almost arseholes to Wakefield. Still. Nearly a year ago, what? We think that it may have been in Leeds that Mr Shandy contacted the corona bug that all but delivered him to death's door come mid-April. Whatever: it was a delightful weekend and we had super fun in a gin-palace up a ginnell we can't even recall the name of. Slappy days!

The so-called "Morrissey Central" is really a stupid/cringe site, I think I must say, to be honest, or rather, to be a bit frank. It almost makes you sad on behalf of Morrissey, socialised, as he of course is, in pre-internet times. Whatever happened to True to You?

It would be nice if Morrissey did have official social media so we could hear directly from him rather than his nephew

But this is not a perfect world...

What - and kill the mystery? As the expression goes - never meet your idols. Even if its in the form of a tweet.

Cringeworthy - yes. But at least it has some semblance of update, no mater how stripped down it is. Ol' "True to You" was just plain left out to fade in the hot sun. I felt that was cringeworthy....

Julia who ran that site gave me a withering look on an escalator before a Moz World Peace concert in Dublin. Just cos I recognised her and smiled.

On the high wire dressed in a leotard
There wobbles one hell of a retard
On the escalator we shit paracetamol
As the ridiculous world goes by

As far as I remember, the updates on True to You were frequent enough. I prefer quality over quantity, so rather an interesting update now and then, instead of the weekly spamming of trivial/cringeworthy posts on Morrissey Central.

Ok no instagram or twitter but Facebook?
Does that mean he's ackowledging FB?
Disappointing. Moz should stick to some social media a bit more reliable than anything belonging to Zuckerberg:rolleyes:

Instagram is a subspecies of Facebook, so it was probably just a mix up. It's like saying "I don't live in Paris or Germany", but he probably meant France.

I always found TTY's graphics rather cringeworthy, so it's strange to admit I actually miss it (compared to what's come after). In case anyone would like to take a stroll down memory lane:

Looks like it was live through early 2018.

When I get round to finishing it, I fully archived TTY a long while back (including all the html / media). It's about 5/8ths complete, but when done it will be a pdf & .doc and fully searchable.
It will get done eventually.
