Morrissey Central: "MORRISSEY, THE MIDDLE EAST." (December 3, 2019)

"To Morrissey, With Love" is the name of a photography exhibition opening on Friday 6th December at the Elham Art Gallery in the city of Ras Al Khaimah in United Arab Emirates. Elham Gallery has stated:

" (this) response from us at the gallery, and the artistic community in Ras Al Khaimah, is because we have been following with shock and concern the unjustified hate campaigns from media towards Morrissey. We have decided to stand by Morrissey, as his Muslim friends, to acknowledge that we are aware of him as a true and passionate friend, and to tell the world that we know he's not our enemy or hater, and we dedicate a group exhibition to him as thanks for being brave against this cruel and hypocritical world."

The Gallery also state that no animal products will be available at the Exhibition.

The usual issues re: sharing certain albums on FB continues...
Here is a 'taste' of the exhibition (looks like a small section of the hotel with space for the photos).
All the items appear to have Morrissey titles and some images are more directly linked to them (in a literal sense) than others.

(To help: 1000 AED = about $272)

Oof, this artwork is a bit embarrassing to be associated with. Thank goodness they are Muslims so Moz can squeeze a bit of good pr out of it!

Top tax rate in NZ is 33%, reduced from 39% by the last Conservative govt. Now you've got the lunatic left in power and you just know they are itching to hike it up again. Not forgetting you also pay tax on company income, fuel and everything else sold retail in the form of GST (our version VAT.)

Now we also have this doozy of a program in NZ called 'Working for Families' which gives tax credits back to people with children who sit under a certain earnings threshold. What this means in essence is that once they get their credits back 50% of the population is not paying any income tax at all, while, 25% of NZ'ers pay 80% of the income tax. But still Lefties yell 'tax the rich!' or 'You've got to pay your fair share.' What do they mean 'my fair share?' I'm already paying considerably more than my fair f***en share.

Ten years ago I went into business for myself, put my house on the line to get some things started and basically worked my ass off. Didn't even take a holiday for the first 2 years and there were some really stressful times and scary times. Now I'm doing well and accrued a decent number of assets and income the govt wants to step in and tell me I have to pay more, because 'my fair share' or some such shit. Tell me would the govt have stepped in to pay my mortgage if my businesses had gone under? Did they volunteer to pay for a locum so I could take a holiday in the those early years? No they did not, but now I'm doing well they seem to think they're entitled to a greater share of my wealth after contributing NOTHING to making it. This is where socialism and progressive leftist ideology does my head in. I take all the risk but then I have to split the rewards seventeen different ways.

Tax is theft. End of. Rant over. :lbf:

A few hours after your post the tax people and the police in Sweden are in the news for seriously thinking about putting a tax on gifts at weddings. Syrian family wedding used as example where huge amounts of cash are handed to the bride and groom.

Now the socialists will decide if we will have a wedding tax.

Welcome to Sweden (stay the hell away).

You can't be serious? I mean I'd love to visit Sweden, but not live there, LOL.

LOL

Who would?

The news is correct and next step to fund the immigration is for people to pay tax for the air they breathe and pay tax for the sidewalks they walk on.

If we are really creative there is no end to new type of taxes we can come up with. Turn over in bed tax. Fart tax for cows and humans.

"if you have more than 5 remote controls you have to pay the excessive remote control tax".

I'm fooked!

You don't live here you survive. You come to some sort of agreement where there is mutual distrust and hate. Never believe that you are someone and that you matter. The collective first always.

Every worker claims they love to work yet you find them on Friday afternoons in line ready to waste their money on gambling and alcohol to survive the mental terror of spending a weekend thinking about what could have been.

You've not abused your soul until you've gone to visit Sweden!

You're really going to attack him over anti-depressants? A little heartless.

On the contrary, I - unlike Steve - am all for putting the animals first. For him, though, how he's feeling comes before the animals he purports to speak for. Until he converted to veganism, he was also a supporter of the dairy industry and, by definition, a supporter of animal rape, among other things. Morrissey is a fraud and an attention-seeker. Always has been. If only he'd give up the anti-depressants maybe he'd get so low that he'd just put his money where his mouth is and top himself. He should; I'd respect him more. Not much, I admit, but a little.

"Last Friday was the opening of our experimental exhibition "To Morrissey, With Love" at the Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah. An opening for a travelling exhibition, experimenting on Morrissey's poetic music. "His poems are characterised by their usage of dark humor, self-deprecation, and the pop vernacular." Beside his unique take on pop music, his outspoken nature has fueled a bias between his fans and critics, creating false interpretations on his personal opinions. It's constant and urgent question if to separate the art from the artist? Artists are entitled to their personal opinions, like anyone else does? Does that makes them any less artistic, any less human? To disagree, is to hate?
Therefore, at Elham Art Gallery we produced this experimental exhibition to support Morrissey, and to support the freedom of artistic expression, and to honor his artistic concepts, and to examine his songwriting symbolism on a different mediums, for the sake of art, and against the absurd allegations that accused him of racism, fascism, and hate! These allegations are very negative to the art, and art communities worldwide.

Choosing, and working with more than 30 artists and models, from more than 100 entries we have received was not based on religion, personal beliefs, or race. However, the organisers, and majority of the artists involved are from Muslim background. The other artists in this project are from different backgrounds as well, Christianity, Hindusim, Buddhism, and atheism. As we believe that art is a human expression tool, and that what matters, and we hope that our statement will be precieved from an artistic point of view, away from the lousy politics, and the personal beliefs.
Also to mention, that the venue of opening at the luxurious hotel Waldorf Astoria was a gift from the hotel free of charge, to support the growing art scene in Ras Alkhaimah, since we are the first Art Gallery in the city. And that all the production was financed independantly."

Peace to Hakim Ali Elhaj and all the Artists.
Some will hate it, some will debate it, but The Wild Turkey will appreciate it!

No offence, but these are f***ing terrible. £600 for taking a snap and putting it in a frame. They really are truly bad. They're so bad that Sammy could do a better job, and that's saying summat. If this is art, my arsehole's gonna win the Turner Prize.

I'm a pro photographer and they look to me.
Very difficult to crit from the online images.
Of course they are art.
It seems you don't quite fully understand the definition of art.

Dry your eyes.

He's a multi-millionaire, a fraud and an attention-seeker. The only way for him to even begin to save face would be to off himself. He's been going on for decades about the endless miseries of his very comfortable and cossetted existence.

It would bring me (and, I'm very sure, many others) a warm glow to know that he could cope no longer with the lonely horrors his existence and just end it. It'd be a relief, I expect, for us all.

If it were ever to happen (it won't), I'd take a screenshot of the news story on the BBC's "entertainment" bit. It'd be hilarious if his demise coincided with some big world event and the story got lost amidst important stuff. That'd be cool.

If my existence were lonely, I'd either be making interminable posts on a pop-star's message-board about fictitious Jewish conspiracies or poncing about on a stage getting much money for very old rope.

You're on a pop-star's message board hoping he dies. You're hardly making your life look fulfilling.

. . . except for when he was wearing leather shoes because synthetic alternatives offended his aesthetic
sensibilities and except for when he was taking anti-depressant medication because his own well-being was more important than that of lab-rats. At those times, Steve came first. Oh well.
Most anti-depressants don't have animal products (though some have lactose). It's futile to avoid products that have been tested on animals. It's good, I suppose, to support cruelty-free companies. However, buying products that have been tested on animals does not increase the demand for more testing. All the testing for that particular product is in the past, and there's nothing you can do about it.
Yes, Morrissey has been a hypocrite. Although I'll by no means excuse his use of animal products and lifelong vegetarianism, I'm willing to forgive him. He's now vegan. He's sworn off animal products. He took his shoes off on Larry King. Plus, Morrissey has done far more for the animals than you have.

Regardless of increasing demand, buying those products maintains demand or, at the very least, arrests reduction in demand.

More fool you.

Plus, Morrissey has done far more for the animals than you have.

For the most part, he's succeeded only in giving vegetarians, vegans and animal-rights activists a f***ing awful reputation and alienated God knows how many people who might've otherwise gone vegetarian in the absence of his hypocritical, holier-than-thou preachiness. Converting people to a non-meat diet and saving animals was never his objective, though (see The Youngest Was the Most Loved for further details).

Animal testing is a governmental mandate. We must accept that every medication on the shelves has historically been tested on two mammals. Even in cruelty-free products, even though the product itself wasn't tested on animals, the essential/active ingredients were. There's not much we can do about that as consumers.

If a product has reached the shelves, that necessarily means that it has passed those tests. That means that the testing is in the past and increasing demand for those products will not affect demand for animal testing, point-blank. Boycotting products that were tested on animals is futile because it doesn't do anything to change the system.

More fool you.
Alright, more fool me. When I listened to Meat is Murder for the first time at twelve years old, I became a vegetarian on the spot and after reading up a bit more on it, within a month I became vegan. I'm still grateful to him for that.
It's a common story, as well. I'm not going to sit here and guess about his intentions. He's effectively brought awareness to the movement, and he's converted many people.

For the most part, he's succeeded only in giving vegetarians, vegans and animal-rights activists a f***ing awful reputation and alienated God knows how many people who might've otherwise gone vegetarian in the absence of his hypocritical, holier-than-thou preachiness.
God knows how many people cite him as the instigator for them going veg.
I'll agree that diplomacy isn't his strong suit and that his uncompromising language has hindered his message.
The only reason anyone might disagree with anything he's said is if they believe that human beings are intrinsically superior to animals. Most people think the suggestion is absurd (but they can't back their opinions up with a trait difference that makes all humans superior to all non-human animals). Is this your qualm?

As I hold the belief that the only reason we hold human beings to a higher moral standard is arbitrary group preference, the only quarrel I can make with anything Moz has said is that it's undiplomatic and potentially insensitive. I can't argue against its fundamental truth. If "animals" were replaced with "humans" everyone would be nodding along.

Converting people to a non-meat diet and saving animals was never his objective, though.

(see The Youngest Was the Most Loved for further details).

Funny how Christians have no weaponised word to throw at their detractors.

But then again Christianity is a bona fide religion, whereas Judaism is some kind of club where most of its members openly admit to being atheist.
Think you need to hit the history books. Where do you think Christianity came from, idiot?
