Does anyone have any clue as to what these lines mean?

Your boyfriend, he went down on one knee
well, could it be he's only got one knee?

Well, men go down on one knee when they aska girl to marry them. Morrissey is hoping that the boyfriend wasn't really proposing but only had one knee to kneel on.

"Well, could it be he's only got one knee?" makes me think of the old phrase "he hasn't got a leg to stand on" - ie. he's got no choice in going down on one knee, he just has to do it. Showing that his proposal is insincere... or something along those lines.

Either that, or it's Morrissey being an awkward, confusing, meaningless git. ;-)
