A BBC insider has told me that Morrissey is due to release a live album, probably one of the Albert Hall nights, in the New Year before the studio album is released.

  • For the world beyond this website Morrissey hasn't been on the radar in ages. If the live disc gets released, all the press packs and reviews will begin, "In anticipation of Morrissey's first studio album in (X) years..." This spark would ignite the underbrush, creating a spectacle to draw attention to the studio LP.

You just have to wonder why it's taken so long to come out, surely a few months back when the hype from the tour was still in full swing would have been a better bet, perhaps they've been "tidying it up".

If Sanctuary feel the need to buy Morrissey some more time in the studio, why not release one of the completed (if any tracks are completed) tracks as a single. That would keep me happy until Christmas 2004! (probably)

  • No-one really wants a live album. Obviously most of us will buy it, but come on, it's about time for a studio album. How on earth can Morrissey justify a seven year gap between albums (and that's assuming something does get released early next year!) and still call himself a recording artist?! God - seven years! Is his next album after this one going to come out in 2011!? It's a shame Morrissey doesn't put himself about a bit more. Obviously he thinks its undignified and vulgar to appear on tv and in magazines and release frequent material but how else are people going to appreciate his wonderful talent if he doesn't.

  • This is amazing news. What a great chance this will be to see one of Morrissey's great concerts at a great location. I am so happy about this news but for my own selfish benefit, I really would like to see the DVD format being pressed so that all disk capacity is utilised ie. more video and more stills but the chance/possibility of seeing some part of the RAH shows would be splendid.

RAH ? - Well not just because the event was held at such an amazing venue, and not because Morrissey sold out the RAH with little (arguably NO) promotion at all, but for the fact that Morrissey came to London - at a time when he just had absolutely everything to lose - and just blew everyone in the music world away.

In Paris, and on the last tour more widely, his new songs were just amazing. His old songs were amazing but let's not go there again. His band - much attacked in some quarters - were just amazing. I have to hand it to Sanctuary..plenty of people here have commented on the availability of concerts and have been trying to get them more available to all - well, this is just great news for all Morrissey fans just as we end 2003. It will also give a welcome Christmas break to those at Mrs Shankly's Internet site ! (Ed: Do they ever have a holiday?)

And, after that roll on the next album...and then (hopefully) some more tantilising UK nights in Bradford, Birmingham, Nottingham, Sheffield City Hall, Bristol, London, Edinburgh, Manchester 2004...and more........(more Copenhagen would also be nice - those MP3s were just great)
