Music to listen to during sex
Posted on Thu, Dec 17 1998

From Kevin Thompson:

The December issue of the New Zealand Cleo, contained an interesting article about what music to listen to during sex.

And as strange as it may seem for a mainstream female magazine, they decided that the music of The Smiths is perfect to have on during sex!

Comments / Notes

yes the perfect euphony to listen to during that three letter gesture is skinstorm

I must say that the Smiths sound remarkably pleasant while not having sex as well.

Does anyone else find it a bit ironic that poor old Morrissey wrote most of these songs during his celibate isolation? Personally, I'd find it kinda wierd to screw around during such deep, profound songs, but maybe it's just me. = )

*****Absolutely and with no doubt, VAUXHALL AND I is *the* CD to make love to...it is the CD to have the best sex on earth. And after that, play the Smiths very first CD, especially, "The Hand that rocks the cradle. *****

THE SMITHS ARE THE BEST TO LISTEN TO WHILE MAKING LOVE TO A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN!! (ESPECIALLY DURING 69!!!!!)

I think it´s quite strange to have sex listening to the smiths, I´d rather listen to groups like Strangelove, Air, or Type o Negative because it gives me more feeling about the act!

All I can say is that listening to "Wonderful Woman" while making love was one of the most remarkable sexual experiences I've ever had!

How discusting...
How can you relate the songs of the Smiths in any way to sex?
And what is this whole Vauxhaul&I thing?
How can anyone get f*ucked to songs like "Hold On to Your Friends" and "Used to be a Sweet Boy"?

Sickening in my opinion.
I really don't think that a celibate artist intends his fans to copulate during his songs...I think Moz would be shocked...

i do not think Moz would be shocked people have sex to his music. He never wanted everyone else to be celibate, after all! In fact, listening to the music is in itself a highly sexual act! Vauxhall & I certainly would be good background, especially Now My Heart Is Full. Much of the earlier stuff too. The ultimate, though, must surely be Stretch Out And Wait.

I dunno; with me, I could never relegate Smiths/Morrissey music to "background" for sex.
Whenever I put their songs on, it's a solitary experience, and I truly get enveloped by the songs, as I'm sure the rest of you do. I'd never want to be at the point of *using* their music for anything; I'd rather enjoy it, in and of itself. Anyway, isn't their music more sensual than sexual?

GOD, this whole topic is so bizarre! = )

ok i know this may seem strange, but the studio version of "jack the ripper" seems like a twisted little sex number and a good one at that. But Suede definitely takes my vote for sexiest music to screw to, especially the first disc on Sci-Fi Lullabies.

It shouldn't suprise anyone that the Smiths and Moz are considered "sexy". Come on, Morrissey has more sexual frustration built up in his jeans than almost anyone out there, not to mention the "tension" that was between him and Mr. Marr. And anyone who really believes that Moz has not pleasured himself (or been pleasured) is fooling themselves! He may be a vegetarian, but I'm sure he's had his share of MEAT!!!

Sex during the "peel session" songs is definetly the best extasy anyone could have, specially during the "I need advice..." part, that's when you get to the climax!!!

Anyone who thinks having sex while listening to the Smiths is strange has probably never had sex before (assuming you liked the Smiths). Can anyone on this board honestly say, "Yeah, when I was having sex the other other day, it just wasn't working. I was listening to the Smiths."

'A light that never goes out' is the best song ever to have sex on. My girl went out of control o this song. Try it out!

So you guys are saying that I have never had sex because I disagree that having sex to the smiths/moz is enjoyable...strange...

Well, I HAVE had sex (gasp)...and in my opinion it's incredibly overrated, not only by media, but by word of mouth...
To associate sex with any of Moz's songs is unnesessary and immature in my opinion. Enjoying Moz's work while using your mind (without sexual destraction )is the absolute best way to obtain pleasure.

I guess you are right...who is to say that Morrissey has not had his share of pleasure?...
I guess it all depends on what pleasures him.

My experience as a Morrissey/Smiths fan: for one reason or another, the Music is not a BACKGROUND for Sex. It is a SUBSTITUTE for Sex...

By the way, I am very glad to see so many fans here on this excellent Website (not just for this topic, of course). I am relatively new to morrissey-solo.com.

Bye Everyone!!!

Morrissey & sex... Sex with other man, maybe... If sex with yourself. But it obviously not music to have sex with woman. Ask Morrissey. Or just look at him. For all goths who are having sex: listen to Tricky's Maxinquae

Gotta agree with Zig. I am probably the world's biggest smiths/moz fan but maxinquaye reigns supreme for the love making and music combo, followed by portishead's dummy. Don't bother knocking it until you've tried it.

Toronto Canada - Tue, Dec 22, 1998 at 20:51:37 (PST)

Well, Maxinquaye is cool, but please don't try Pre-Millenium Tension... It's music to torture someone... And, what do you thing about Dream City Film Club 1th album? Not bad, really

I must agree the person who said suede was the best music to shag to, but I prefer Dog Man Star. But having said that, having sex with someone you love whilst Strangeways Here We Come is on is quite a remarkable experience - try it!

best song for lovemaking is "interlude"

Skin Storm is obviously about sex, so why wouldn't one listen to that song during lovemaking? Interlude is another beautiful song... and Moz didn't write either one.
hmm...

It may sound strange.. but I think that, "I'd Love To" would do it for me :)

Never dated a girl that really liked my Morrissey or Smiths collection that much or who would listen to it at all.
I think a good album for this sort of thing though would be So Tough by Saint Etienne.

Ummm, my only question to you all is... What the *&!@# kinda boring sex are you all having that you can actually listen to the music?!? Usually it seems to me that my your mind drifts far too off into the bliss of sensuality.

Havn't you ever put on a CD and by the time your done it's either finished or you are like damn, what happened to all those songs? :)

I've never really thought about having sex to Smiths/Morrissey. It's more music ot fanticize about some perfect person in a far off land that doesn't exist. Infact I don't even like listening to with other people in the room. But it does bring out the hopless romantic in me. Oh you handsome devil!
