Johnny Marr - working on 'his own project'

From Imrin Anwar:

I read a small clipping in a recent NME which had a comment from Marr on the court appeal by Morrissey. He stated that he had nothing to do with it, and he just wants to get on with making music. He is finishing up the Electronic album and is working on ‘his own project’ (whatever that implies).

Comments / Notes

Marr's next project should be bringing back the Smiths. I wish that was possible............................

His own project? Better be instrumental! Remember what his singing sounded like on the first The The record? Ugh!!!

This next Electronic album better be worth it. His own project should be interesting...though strange if he sang on it.

I THINK THE SMITHS SHOULD DO A REUNION ALBUM. WOULDN'T THAT BE COOL?????????

Marr is chubby and hasn't done anything in ages. Even Moz has slowed down quite a bit and his output is sometimes brilliant, sometimes watery, sometimes embarrassing. Oh well. I was hoping there would be a bit of noise and a bit of sincerity before the end. Remember "I will die for what I say." ? I guess they lost focus.

Marr is a kind of person that likes innovation,
technology and surprising people.
I think The Smiths reunion is unlikely
but who knows? Marr likes suprising people.
So, expect the unexpected...

The only way Morrissey or Johnny Marr can salvage anything from their careers is to record together again. Their recent output has been passable but hardly inspiring as in The Smiths heyday, so they should bury whatever hatchet exists and get back to making exciting, original music.

Why is everyone so quick to write off everything that Morrissey and Marr have done recently, or plan on doing (separately) in the future? Performers seldom maintain their creativity and innovation throughout their careers, but we'll always be there for them, right?

Sure, everyone wants their favorite band to reunite, but are we ready to accept it if it isn't as brilliant as the old Smiths stuff? Personally, I'd hate to see them get back together, only to produce lackluster songs and go through the motions. Still, I hold out hope that they'll reunite in some form or another. VIVA THE SMITHS!!

amen, swallow...if the smiths reunited and cut an album that had all of us wincing, it would be a travesty for all of humanity. =) well, maybe not that drastic. but i'd prefer listening to what they did in the 80s and at that time in the 80s. Morrissey and Marr were younger and going through whatever angst they were going through to make such lovely songs. now that they are moderately successful and older, i doubt that the music will be as honest and open as it was when they were together before. we want what we cannot have, i suppose, but i think we should leave it as is.

ps. the smiths rule.
