The Guardian review looks to me like it's the work of someone who hasn't read the book but has sped through it with the purpose of producing a bit of a hatchet job. I suppose they wanted to win a race of their own for the first review.
However, if the rumours about no editing and proofing are...
Guardian article says that she blocked her appearance on that cover because of the 'swearing' in the song (she was a Jehovah's Witness by then) - presume the Dutch version is worth some money!

You missed the video played before he came on at the recent shows then?
Not sure what time it is where the moderators are but April Fools jokes end at midday or you are the April Fool. The Alain Whyte reference was hilarious :p
I was there - and it was certainly around 85/90% full. The photographs posted on this thread indicate how full it was in the standing section and bar a corner bank the seated area looked full to me too.
I do wonder at anon posters who put stuff like this up on this site. Why not put your name...
Some really good reviews here (among the bile from mainly, it has to be said, anon contributors).

It's really hard to see who is going to buy this, it's not even a new/remastered version.
It is hard to see the point of buying this if there isn't a B side with new or at least previously unreleased versions of existing material.
I remember anticipating a new 7/12" from the Smiths or Morrissey and the excitement of actually buying and looking at the product etc. A digital download...
I'm going to Birmingham next week. It's a big venue so It'll be interesting to see how full it is.
Like you I'd have preferred a smaller full venue which would create more intimacy and atmosphere.
I still can't wait for next Friday to come though!
Yes it was - there was a good article on the club and the scene more generally here:

Very sad.
He was quite groundbreaking in terms of fashion and was a regular reference point for a number of bands who you could describe as new romantic. But - bar fade to grey - didn't really enjoy huge mainstream success or recognition.
Fade to grey is quite incredible - even now, all...
