From the Undercover Media website (link) Morrissey is back in the studio working on his first new album since 1997's 'Maladjusted'. Producer Jerry Finn is driving the controls for the new record. "It sounds great" he tells Undercover News. Work is a fair way down the track but we won't see the album until well into 2004. "The Moz record won't be out until next May or so" Jerry says. Morrissey will also bring the album out as an indie (although the particular indie is now through BMG). "He is signed to Sanctuary records" he says. Finn is quickly becoming a veteran of the recording studio having worked previously with AFI, Green Day, Blink 182, The Living End, MxPx, Rancid and Pennywise but we suspect his finest moment every should be as assistant engineer on 'A Very Chipmunk Christmas' for Alvin and the Chipmunks. --- An anonymous person also writes: According to Channel 4 Teletext the new Morrissey LP has a tentative release Date of May 2004, and also the first single to be taken from the Lp is "First of the gang to die"

It will be a digi-pak with 500 words from Morrissey and a 3000 liner essay from me. There are plans for a boxed set later." I believe he misrecalled there, and that the actual title is "Lonely Planet Boy" - a reference to a New York Dolls song. (I've wondered if this was Morrissey's suggestion.)

On Saturday 29th November, Johnny Marr appeared on Sky One's football programme 'Soccer AM'. Marr was briefly quizzed about his time in The Smiths and was very positive about what they had achieved. The only slightly negative undertone was his implication that Morrissey would never allow him to alter the lyrics during the song writing process. Probably the most interesting question he was asked was "..who did he (Marr) believe was the best frontman ever?" Marr's response after a brief pause for thought?....Mick Jagger circa late 1960's. Surely he cannot be serious? As an fyi, did anyone check out the drummer from 'No Doubt' sporting the classic 'Queen is Dead' T-shirt during a recent interview with MTV. Seems like it's becoming 'cool' again to be a Smiths fan?

The collaboration with Rourke and Joyce is mentioned on the band's website too. Stourbridge is a small town in the West Midlands, about 10 miles west of Birmingham.
