I recently had a client who asked me, as his lawyer, to draft his Last Will and Testament with the following language in it:

"   ITEM V: However, should my said wife predecease me, or die within sixty (60) days of my death and if I have no living children at the time of my death, then I give, devise and bequeath all of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to [name deleted], IN TRUST, to be held for the benefit of two musicians commonly known to the him as Johnny Marr and Morrissey. I direct the trustee to send a certified letter to each of the two musicians, or otherwise make personal contact with them or their representatives, stating that if they meet with one another alone in the same room for more than one hour they can be given all of the property held within the trust. Should they refuse, the trustee is directed to set up a scholarship fund in the name of the two musicians and administer the scholarship fund in a manner that is prudent to him."

I found it rather amusing that this guy had a dying wish for Morrissey and Marr to get together. Also, judging from this guy's potential estate, Morrissey and Marr could divide a couple of million dollars just for getting together for an hour. I told him that their separation was more a matter of principle than a matter of money but he still wanted to put them in his will in some way.

How can they resist a man's dying wish that they get together?

I just back back from the Dandy Warhols' Austin, Texas gig and I couldn't wait to come back and tattle that they did a killer rendition of the Smiths' "What She Said!" They opened with "Be In" and segued into a slowed down, trippy, psychedelic version of "What She Said" and it was awesome. It wasn't as frantic as the Smiths', but it was much spacier. Thought you'd wanna know!

This is a great site and we can't recall Mozza being featured before. The main URL is www.somethingawful.com and the Morrissey bit is here.

In the new Observer Music Monthly magazine supplement (The Observer is a quality British Sunday broadsheet), there is a section called 'The Record Doctor', where the doctor discusses celebrities' favourite records. This week, Jade Jagger said: 'I can't think of a music genre that I don't listen to, apart from easy listening, actually. And indie. Although I loved The Smiths and ... do Primal Scream count as indie?'

In the doctor's final diagnosis, Jade's musical tastes were applauded, exept for 'a few weaknesses', whereby 'The doctor notes Jade's appreciation ofThe Smiths and Primal Scream in an area which she knows she is weak.'

All this coming from the same magazine that praises Blur and Central African Republic music!

Re: Article in today's Evening Standard (London) on Sanctuary Records entitled "Stars Seek Sanctuary" in The Arts section.

"The real coup was signing the notoriously awkward Morrissey in June, the moody former Smiths singer and national icon who has been without a record deal since 1997. His new album, due next summer, will be one of the most significant releases of 2004."

Hi everyone, just noticed on the website: 'Famous Football Supporters' that Morrissey, 'singer, former frontman of The Smiths' has been mentioned as a fan of Manchester United. This makes me jealous, as the 'musicians' that support my club are Elton John and Geri Haliwell!
