Morrissey and the revived Attack label - Why not add your thoughts...

Post subject: the *new* Attack Label
Author: ReggaeFire

So now that Sanctuary has *given* Morrissey the Attack label... what the heck is going to do with it? Is he going to bring it back ala the Steve Barrow era for Reggae reissues (doubtful, he does think "reggae is vile" after all) or is he doing it simply so that the labels on his new record will say "Attack"?

If it's the former, well odd, but okay. If it's the latter I would be a little offended that Sanctuary would give away a storied piece of Reggae history to a washed up pop star (who apparently hates reggae to boot) for his own use.

According to the trusty C4 teletext service (pg 161) Michael Stipe admitted he stole Morrissey's stage moves. During his warm up date for Glastonbury at the Brixton Academy he told the crowd 'I saw Morrissey pass his hands over the crowd and thought, Ooh that looks good, Im stealing that and I did'

He later went onto change the lyrics in 'Man on the Moon' from 'Mr Fred Blassie' to 'Mr Steven Morrissey'

Apparently he went and watched the Smiths on the Meat Is Murder tour!!

Hopefully he'll say something about the great man at Glastonbury as I'm going!!

REM pay tribute to London at Brixton Academy show - NME.com, June 25, 2003. Excerpt:

REM paid tribute to LONDON at their BRIXTON ACADEMY show last night (June 24) by playing a host of the songs from 'FABLES OF THE RECONSTRUCTION', the 1985 album they recorded in the UK capital.

The band, playing the first of two sold-out nights, performed the first four songs on the album in order. Frontman Michael Stipe told the ecstatic crowd: "We recorded this album in London, so it's very special to be playing these songs here tonight."

Stipe, who was in exuberant form, also told the crowd he had seen The Smiths play the 4,500 venue in 1985 and had stolen his stage moves from Morrissey after seeing him onstage that night.

4 out of 5 stars

With School Disco-type compilations flooding our record shops, and Paul Young, Kim Wilde and ABC priming themselves for another nostalgic trek around Britain's arenas, the Eighties revival shows no sign of waning.

I have a friend who works for Artful Records and have it on good
authority that Vini is set to team up with Morrisey again for a new
album... under the name Another Noosebleed. Apparently they have
already recorded a few tracks already and a release date near the end
of the year looks likely as Vini has a few other pending gig
  commitments to fulfil first
