So in case you've been living in a cave for the last twenty-four hours, the short film from Denmark "This Charming Man" won the Academy Award for best live action short film. It was very nice to see the director up on stage with his obvious admiration for Mozzer by way of his hairstyle.

"Morrissey, Mexico, Myth" by Anthony Easton - Freaky Trigger

An interesting and well-written article regarding Morrissey's Latino fanbase. Good food for thought.

I went to see Johnny Marr in Berlin on Sunday the 16th of March 2003. The concert was okay so far, but I am not so keen on his new stuff... Anyway, this is what happened about half-way through the gig: suddenly lights and music went out. Electricity was off for some reason. Johnny later said "We blew a fuse, now let´s try to blow the bar up..." Ok so it was rather dark for about 5 minutes and absolutely silent. First Johnny took the harmonica and did some blues stuff. Then he took the acoustic guitar and played "Cemetry Gates". I could not believe it at first, but it sounded so familiar and it was "Cemetry Gates" indeed. He even sang a few words in the end but I could not understand them. Not the original lyrics though...

And then the impossible happened: Johnny Marr performed an acoustic version of "Bigmouth" (no singing) and the audience went hysterical at this point. He afterwards said something like "Only time I will perform it for you". Then electricity was okay again and he went on with his "Boomslang"-stuff... I really had not expected Johnny Marr to give us a Smiths instrumental and I am still very excited about it...

in a French Rockabilly group I met this artist who calls himself "Moz the Painter" and he has some - in my humble opinion - really cool popartish acryls on his website.

There will be exhibitions in Paris and NYC between April and June. Here is the website: http://www.moz.fr.st/

It's me again, about that Thrills on The Janice Long Show, mentioning Morrissey.

The Thrills session is now in the Janice Long session archive, after I've requested it, so everyone can now have a listen.

The direct link is to the Real Player Media file.

Tell me what you think the label's name is :)

The Morrissey mention is at around 11 min. - it's mumbled but it does sound like "Setanta".

Not a very interesting story but it got me excited. The final episode of top UK drama/comedy show Cold Feet went out on a high last Sunday evening (Mar. 16) with 2 name checks for The Smiths and one for Morrissey. Reminiscing over old photographs the two leading characters were discussing which of the two liked the Smiths the most and one was heard to say 'Morrissey was cool'.

Like I say, not very interesting but it made my day.
