  • It always intrigues me that there is such an absolute lack of consensus on which Morrissey songs are good and which are not so good.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of man about town but I do love hard to walk tall and the never played symphonies has grown on me over the years.

I already owned all but three or four swords songs but it is a shame Morrissey didn't include 'the public image' and a live version of Mexico, which are both beautiful songs. In fact, a pared-down 'public image' with acoustic guitar and organ would be quite something. I saw someone singing it on youtube in just such a style and - although it wasn't perfect - it was haunting and prettily cynical.

It stikes me as a good idea for a future release. He could re-record some of his songs with a more exciting group of musicians and a new angle. Songs such as 'i'd love to,' 'come back to camden,' 'you're gonna need someone on your side,' and i the public image' are crying out for a make-over.

I'm only kidding, I know he'll never do it and that's because he has too much taste. But it is a nice idea in principle.
