You can have amazing band members and great songs, but without a stand-out vocal you're doomed.
I would go so far as to assert that without Mozzer's voice The Smiths would not have been half as successful as they were. Even with the lyricism and the charisma, without the sound of his voice they would have been a lesser band.

But what's really on my mind is: how old is that Zach Condon fellow of Beirut? He looks maybe 14 at the most.
